Kind of partial to this one's feature set and price...

Or is this too barebones for you?

I have one of those Yamahas. It is excellent.
I also have a 12-channel Peavey I like a lot.
The Yamaha has Compression also.
They are both quite enough for recording.
The Peavey has USB outputs also.

Also the Alesis Multimix (the USB series):

I think Alesis discontinued not long ago the 12 Ch mixers, to bad, the USB mixers also allow you to record into a Computer.
The affordable Behringers

I sell Mackie and Yamaha

I would go Yamaha for bang for the buck, but if you want top notch, go for the new Mackie Onyx boards, the pre's are virtually transparent, but it will cost ya

Something else to consider would be a Allen & Heath ZED12fx. http://www.allen-heath.co.uk/zed/zed-12FX.asp

You should really state what your budget is.

In my opinion it is better to buy just a mixer w/o FX, because the built-in units usually offer poor editing. Decent FX units can be found really cheap, but offer much better quality FX with more adjustable settings.

Main thing about those Yamaha's is the built-in compressors. Nothing better than having separate compressors on the mike channels, just to tame the dynamics a bit. Your arranger probably doesn't need it, but it helps the vocals no end...

Plus, on the whole, Yamaha's effects are usually very good. Never did like the reverb on those cheap Mackie's...

Here is another great choice with super features.

"Exclusive Room Acoustic Control automatically tunes speakers for optimal sound"
this feature alone is worth the price.

Except that it's been discontinued and is no longer available from any of the major retailers.

Anything that Fran has had for only two weeks can hardly be described as 'couldn't be happier' and it actually MEAN something. He (and many others here) have waxed enthusiastically about gear for at least that long, only to be turned in, returned, or sold and THEN the real truth comes out.

After Fran has had it for six months and used it constantly is it possible to decide whether he TRULY 'couldn't be happier'...

You want a recommendation on a piece of gear, don't listen to ANYONE (including me! ) who has only had it a couple of weeks...

Fran bought his from Sweetwater the unit is still in their catalogs also.

I wasn't trying to be funny, Donny. Every major retailer, including Sweetwater, has it listed as discontinued and unavailable. Why would I make this up. Just try ordering one from zzsounds, sweetwater, AMS, Musicians' friend, GC, Same-day-music, etc.

The URL you posted is for ebay. You can find scrambled eggs that look like Jesus on ebay. What does that prove?

Donny, your original post referenced the M16DX, not the M10DX (as if you didn't know that). Why not just acknowledge the truth, or is just more fun being a jerk?

Use the same Yamaha mixer that Diki and Don have, plus some 16 and 32 channel Carvins.

The Yamaha is good for mid-size jobs. The bigger stuff is only used for outdoor car shows and really big outdoor festivals-about 6 times a year.

Also use a little 200 watt 8 channel powered Yamaha which works great for most of my live jobs.

Good mixer for the money.

Oh, so now you're the morality police for Synthzone. God help us all.

Donny, ask yourself these three questions.

1. Did your initial post reference the MD16x? Hint: "http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=860&ParentId=114
Here is another great choice with super features."

2. Was I wrong in saying that it had been discontinued?

3. Would you consider #1 and 2 "'nuff said'?

Hey it's okay to be wrong once in awhile, big guy. Heck, even Diki, Ian, and I have been wrong occasionally (well, me not so much, but those other two...).

And just remember, The truth shall set you free .

Typos sometimes do happen when in haste trying to help a fellow SZ member.
But your derogatory statement was uncalled for... intended to make a person seem of little importance or value....It had the same impact as if you would of used belittling, contemptuous, decrying, degrading, demeaning, depreciative, depreciatory, disdainful, disparaging, scornful, slighting, uncomplimentary.
Shame on you Chas ....grow up!

OMG. I'm so sorry I disturbed you in the middle of a random act of kindness.

Hey, glad to see your vocabulary is improving beyond 1,2,cha,cha,cha (only next time, use spell check). Keep up the good work.

I never attack er, respond unless provoked. Remember, it was you that blasted me before you realized that it was your 'typo' that caused the misunderstanding. Forget about it, I'll buy you a beer the next time I come up to visit Fran.

First it was 'Saints will go down to the Eagles', then it was 'Saints will go down to the Jets', then it was 'Saints will go down to the Giants', then...

Rack 'em up... we'll keep knocking them down

Anyone notice that the rest of our entire regular season, our remaining opponents have a .380 record, roughly?

At least when we meet the Vikings (if they don't stumble, or Favre return to his interception habits), it'll be in a dome..
