I've heard the Piano card (SRJV-03) and love it. However, many say that the Session has the best piano. It does sound nice, but doesn't the SRJV3 have more ROM dedicated to Piano sounds? Tell me, which one do you think is better?

The rumor is that the Roland SC880 has the Piano right off of the Session card. It does sound good, but what do you think?

In my opinion, the XP-60's MIDIed Grand isn't a completely bad piano either. Whereas the House Piano to me sounds strange...

If anyone wanted to know...

I guess I'm not the only one that's partial to the MIDI'ed Grand on the XPs. I love it but would have been afraid to admit it unless someone else did first.

Okay guys, but what about the Piano Board vs. the Session Board? The MIDIed Grand sound is pretty damn good too.

You guys should join the "Who has better sounds?" thread in the GENERAL DISCUSSION room here.

EPU- Personally, I think that the acoustic piano in the session board is better than the one in the piano board. This is one of the best sampled/synthe piano sounds I've heard. However, the piano in the piano board sin't half bad either. Between the time the piano and session boards were released, time marched on and obviously Rolands engineers were able to get a better sounding piano using less waveform ROM! Thats just IMHO obviously.

However, the best piano's are to be found in the SRX board- but you need an XV synthe for that one obviously!

Cheers.

Thanks Korgasm. I was wondering this becuase everyone seems to talk so bad about the Piano boad. Then I think to myself, the Piano board was released just for Piano right?

The session board is good, but then there is Rolands RD600. It is the piano sounds on the piano board from which the RD sounds were derived.

I must check out the Session board one more time.

So far, the best piano sound and the cheapest made by Roland is the one from VE-RD1. If you have a controller like A70/90 this is the best buy. Since most of the keyboard players use more than one keyboard, the piano is always there and it should always be dedicated to a controller.

guys,
the best piano sound I have every heard in my hole life was in the Ensoniq ZR-76.the sound of the piano was so real and realy gives you a perfect feelings for any thing .Roland is not bad in pianos but I feel like ther piano sounds are just ther to make every one know that they make a sound called piano(doesn't make me feel anything when I play it but I have no choice but to play my E-500OR piano becasue it's better than my "KORG TRITON", you hear that korg?!?!?).
