No need to apologize Vic83. As an acoustic piano player turned keyboardist,I have been searching for years for the ultimate grand piano sound. The search has ended. For sheer inspiration and realism the Ensoniq ZR-76 is the creme de la creme.

The ultimate piano sound is from a real piano. anyone who tries to find an "authentic" accoustic piano sound on some "card" is in for a big dissapointment.

If you must, don't even bother with synths. Get a full size keyboard that does only piano's or a sampler. Everything else is just a joke.

You are very condescending in the tone of your reply arvon45. The topic at hand is best piano sound in an electronic keyboard not acoustic.Of course you cannot beat the sound of an acoustic grand.I know ,I have been playing acoustic grands most of my musical life.Have you tried the ZR-76,it is a superb instrument.

Arvon,
I've played WAY more bad acoustic pianos than bad synths in my 30 year carreer.

"Arvon,

What does this have to do with anything?

Of course there are bad pianos, and there are bad synths. But the worst accoustic piano will sound better than the best synth emulating a piano.

I would stop wasting time and either get:

a. a real piano
b. a sampler
c. a 5k$ electric piano with 6 sounds.

Synth's just don't do a good job of emulating real instruments. If you want to mimmick real instruments, get a sampler.

Anybody knows where I can buy or get the 30 MB sample of piano sound that Yamaha used in their midigrand? I noticed that what ever expensive synth there is in the market a lot of well known musicians are still using midigrand in their concert.

I don't think anyone here is talking about emulating piano sounds via synthesizing a piano-ish sound from traditional waveforms; the piano sounds on most of the "synths" discussed here are (multi)samples of "acoustic" pianos (though I don't know anything about the ZR-76). The question (that has evolved from this discussion) is, "who has the best piano sample on their 'board"?

I vehemently diagree with Arvon 45s assertion that everything else is a joke.Yes it is true that five years ago synth piano sounds were less than acceptable but it is rather different now.The Roland xv 64 mb piano, the Kurzweils, the Ensoniq ZR-76,all have pristine piano sounds. My question is again.Have you played the ZR-76?

except korg nowhereman, ther piano sounds are realy very bad , you know what, my E-40OR's piano (which is "piano1" on the E-36,38,56,70,...etc) beats TRITON's piano so that's kinda imbarsing:}!.
