My iPhone music app wish: I believe that currently available iPhone apps support either 'midi' or 'audio' multitrack recording, but none support BOTH midi AND audio in one app. In addition, midi sound is very limited as it doesn't support a full GM/XG instrument set. I hope this eventually happens as this will then bring music production capabilities on the iPhone to a much higher level. I'm keeping my eyes glued to the iTunes Store for these music app features offered in the near future.

Thanks for this information. It's great. I just downloaded it. I have an iTouch too.
What headphone with a mike do you use and I guess you plug it into the input at the lower right, right?

Yep

You certainly can simply use the apple headset-mic unit that comes with the iPod Touch, but I opted for the Klipsh S4i for improved sound quality as well as far more comfortable (at least for my ears) 'in ear' type phones. In addition, the S4i allows you to operate the iPod's playback controls remotely. The only drawback with the S4i is the thin wires.

Thanks Scott.

Would you know what headset the guy doing the demo is using? It looks like he's singing right into the iPhone.

By the way Scott, the earphones that came with my iTouch does not have a mike built into it, does yours?

Way cool! Next create minor, 7th, Maj7, dim, aug, chords based on whether you sing ba ba ba ba or boo boo boo boo or bee bee bee bee.

Peter, it depends on what generation iTouch you have. I just sold a first generation iTouch, that had no capability of of input thru a mic.

Like Scott I have the Klipsch unit for my iPhone it's great.

I believe that was added in the 2nd generation. Check out : http://www.bluemic.com/mikey/

I also have the"Mikey" and am very happy with it. I use the Mikey for recording meetings and conferences. They have just released a new generation too.

I probably have the 2nd generation because I can record with mine. I bought a great little mike form Smalldog.com for $15 and it records great.

The guy in the demo is using the 'built in' mic' inside the iPhone to record.

Peter, how long ago did you purchase your iPod Touch? The iPod Touch doesn't include a built in mic, but the current generation models include a single 'duo headset-mic jack input' plus a headphone/mic combo headset for plugging into it. Unfortunately, the earlier 1st Generation iPod Touch doesn't support or include a mic input. - Scott

What brand/model did you get?

I'm looking into a 'dedicated'quality mic for my iPod touch too. I want to use it to record AND also be able to 'live monitor' while recording as well.

I'm currently considering the Blue Mikey, but out of the box, this mic (when plugged into the dock at the bottom of the iPod Touch) BLOCKS the iPod Touch's headphone jack. To solve this problem you'll need a dock extender to allow access to the headphone jack for audio monitoring. I bought THIS ONE

Ok, I nearly pulled the trigger to buy the original Blue Mikey the other day, but just learned that Blue announced at CES that they will be soon releasing a new feature enhancement of a 'line input' jack, allowing you to rec out from your keyboard into the iPhone/iPod Touch via stereo line in jack. This is definitely the one I've got my eyes on.

Blue Mikey
