The issue is direct sales to end users, intentionally bypassing established distribution...even making requests that dealers not be told of the "deal". That's an absolute "no no" in the distribution business. Ted knows about it. I called him. George knows about it, as do other current and former dealers and some long-time members here. They also know the individual involved and of other incidences, and have registered their concerns as I did.
That is so wrong in the distribution business that I basically paid more "used" than the "direct" price offered for my SD-5 and Midjay, and went to another manufacturer for two house pianos I was asked to procure.
I'm a big fan of the line, but am NOT a customer, given this situation.
I work with manufacturers around the world setting up channels of distribution, establishing territories, setting policies concerning sales credit for leads at trade shows, etc. As far as business ethics go, in most industries, even one incident like this would result in lines being dropped and staff members involved dismissed.
