Don,

Why is it being moved to the grave yard, no one uses this site, it's a cul-de-sac, layby, siding, slip road, dead end. Got me beat! Perhaps your right Don that's where it should be OS4, with the undead!

Regards

Hmmmm, Nigel are your next plan to move the Yammie stuff to the Yamaha forum?
Usually there are far more life at the Ketron forum, not to forget Technics forum, while the
Yamaha forum looks like dead.
When was the last time someone posted anything there? 25th October and 14th December 2009!!
Maybe there are no much exciting Yammie stuff to talk about?

I think it's been mentioned by some in a post or two before, and maybe it would be a good idea
to melt all the SZ Arranger forums together to one, and move all the chit chat over to the bar?

Cheers

Maybe this is a good chance both to start using the Ketron site more, and to eliminate a lot of the criticism by people who don't own Ketrons and don't ever intend to own one.
Those that ARE truly interested can merely go to the site with one click. http://www.synthzone.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Ketron+Forum&number=22

Bravo to Nigel.

If he can find time, the same should be applied to football results, quirky videos, oddball websites, funeral notices, computer and IT topics, VST instruments. To name but a few of the subjects that have NOTHING to do with General Arranger topics.

And then you wouldn't have a forum. This forum is low traffic as it is. I tire of all the bickering but the arranger forum, if left strictly to arranger only, will die a slow and painful death, methinks. Movement (posting) is key in any forum, else, it dies.

The reason the Yamaha, Roland and Korg forums HERE are slow is because excellent forums already exist for those manufacturer specific arrangers. PSRWorld (amongst others) Korgforums and Roland-Arranger.com already do excellent service for those users. No need to duplicate their posts here. Ketron, OTOH....

Plus, I suppose, it's easier to come here and whine about something that few of us can check up on and see if the unit (or the owner) isn't a lemon. ONE voice, screaming into the void has derailed much of our 'general' content lately. If it was a dozen users, it would be different. But since Tony has took upon himself to make it his mission in life to publicize HIS problems (while ignoring anyone's efforts to help him, and ignoring other members' perfectly contrary experiences), it's honestly about time it was moved to the frozen hinterlands where he MIGHT have to acknowledge how little he has tried for himself to solve his problem...

The 'countdown' should be for when he wakes up and realizes he has a lemon, and a gnat's attention span for troubleshooting it

I'm setting the countdown to 'Infinity and Beyond...'

Of course the other solution is to simply rename it the Synth Zone General Forum.

And believe it or not, I would actually agree with that!

This particular forum has become somewhat of a watering hole for the regulars. Thus, I think it helps this forum to get some OT posts. Because there are not enough on-topic posts to keep it moving. I will live with whatever the webmaster's rules are on any forum but that is my opinion... you need movement or people lose interest.

The web changes SO fast, it's hard for any forum to thrive long-term.

Dennis, I was the one that posted about a friend's passing....but I thought it was perfectly okay..because Tom was a arranger performer for 30 years....and there were other SZoners that knew Tom..

Personally I do not see any problem with off topics posted in this General arranger forum...after all they are arranger users, and everyone knows each other...I agree with Bill..get picky about what is posted and you will have a lot less to get picky over in the near future...

Fran my comment was not directed at anyone in particular, so don't feel any need to explain what you did.

And I do not believe having death notices and all the other topics I mentioned moved to more appropriate locations is being "picky". That goes for new "gear" announcements as well Unless the gear happens to be an arranger.

And of course you can say a new speaker system is related to general arrangers, and yes it is linked, but it is not specifically about arrangers.

As I said earlier, just rename it to the General Muso's forum, or similar....

I know if I want to look for anything Korg specific, I look either to the Korg forum here, or at Irishacts, ditto for anything Yamaha or Roland. I go to the specific forum.

I come to the General Arranger forum to look for and discuss arranger issues.

But, that's just me

And look, if this WERE to become the "General" forum, thats cool and I would have NO problems with folks posting about anything at all

Don,

You are 100% right on that and come to think of it we can say what we like about Ketron, AJ won't moderate it I don't think he looks at the site, it's like driving past by a multiple car pile up, if you don't want to know whats happened , don't look. Mind you someone from another site will always take a peek and start kicking off, know what I mean Don.

Hi Nedim,
my husband thinks the same about me.
I sit in front of the tv reading the forums on my netbook, laughing to myself. He gives me some strange looks, as if to say, "are you right in the head" haahaa.

best wishes
Rikki
