I Have a Tyros2 and find the hammond sounds OK. I've tried using the "drawbars" and associated tone modifiers and can't seem to get anything that I really like.

Has any Tyros2 owner been able to get a really good B3/leslie/chorus tone? If so, how?

Or does the Tyros3 or S910 have better B3 hammond tones?

Do any of the Roland or Korg keyboards/arrangers excel at the B3 tone?

I'm ready to make a change and want to get an improvement.

Bill

This is the best clone, without a doubt. http://neo-instruments.de/en/ventilator/ventilator-details
I heard that Yamaha will send drawbars to separate out. My KN7000 will and it sounds great. It has adjustible ramping, speed, drive, etc.

Here is an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgXgjuH_kFc

I personally think that the only arranger keyboards that excell at hammond sounds are Wersi and lionstracs...

Because of the VST options.

The only way to get the real Hammond sound on your arranger is here:

That XK1 sounds pretty good. Personally, I think it sounds a little bit more 'metallic' or stark or 'less warm' or something?, than the Nord C1/2, but still sounds better than the organ in any arranger I've heard. Although I prefer the Korg arrangers to the Yamahas (just like the styles better), I have to admit that I like the 'Hammond' voices of the Yamaha better than the Korg. I don't really use either since I have the Nord, but if I had to choose, I'd definitely pick the T2 over the PA1x for (hammond-type)organ voices, especially those with simulated 'Leslie'.

On another note (Hijack alert! ), I'm always surprised to see so many arranger players concerned about the quality of the organ voices, but then, if you listen to most of the musical offerings posted, you will rarely hear any organ, either featured or as pads. Same, to a lesser degree, with the quality of the piano voices. My personal opinion (worth nothing, BTW) is that the organ voices on most current MOTL or TOTL arrangers, sound just fine in the mix. Don't believe it? Just listen to some of the factory intros and variations that feature organ. As usual, it's the player (plus the use of an EXPRESSION PEDAL).

While the XK-1 and C1/2 are fine, as I have a Nord Electro2, we are talking about a great Leslie sim added to an existing keyboard. If the tonal quality of the drawbars are passable, the Ventililator will make the Leslie effect come alive.

I use the T3 in a Band set-up and the drawbars make a real nice sound in the mix,i have also a VK8M and i realy didnt need it fore the average use, only for real "screaming"B3 sounds.
The T3 vs the T2 are a lot better, the new DSP is one of the best(or the best)you can buy in a arranger.

A great Leslie sim with a passable organ put through it is no better, IMO, than a great great organ put through a passable Leslie sim.

They BOTH have to be great for the full Monty... and yes, just like piano, you have to PLAY it like an organ for it to sound like an organ.

Trouble seems to be, especially over in Europe, the prevalent organ sound is that awful reverb drenched Lowery or Wersi type sound Over here in the US, we tend to lean more towards those great gospel greats and jazz greats (and maybe some great rock organists like Benmont Tench), and most of the European organ sounds leave us cold...

But as arrangers are geared towards European players, we often don't get anything we can use without cringing

Nonetheless,it is better to have a passable organ with a great Leslie sim, than a passable organ with a not so great Leslie sim.

And better to have a passable organ through a REAL Leslie...

And best of all to have a REAL Hammond through a REAL Leslie (as long as it wasn't the tranny ones)...

I don't want a real Hammond... NI B4 II and some other VST's sound good enough for me.. I have no room for a B3 in my home...

And as a european i like the wersi organ sound too..

But then i am a big fan of the all in one box... So i am prepared to do concessions.
