What's up with this board? I heard the SRX Drum Board in an XP3080 today and was VERY impressed. The crossfading function works so well - as to immitate things like flams, rolls and dynamic fills.

I don't want to buy an XV module as I already have the XP60. How is the SRJV80-10? I've heard good stuff about it, but is it as good? Does it have lots of kits? Are they all rock and jazz oriented, or do they have stuff for funk too? How are the basses?

Please talk about this board. I want to get one, but I want to hear some stuff about it.

I recently got me the Bass&Drum-card. And the basses are really good. They have more punch and realism that I've ever heard before. There are also a lot of nice bass-effects&noises (like pick-up slides etc.) The fretless-solo sounds are some real killers!!! When it comes to the drums, I'm not so sure, but they much better than the internal ones in my JV-2080. For sequencing, this card is a must for JV-owners...

The basses (all of them) are the best I've heard this side of a sampler! I could not live without this card in my JV1080 and it will go into my XV3080 as soon as I get it!

I also really like the drums. However, some of the kits in the XV synthes contain some of the same samples as those in this card (not a bad thing really!!!!). However, I personally find the kicks on this card a little weak (lacking umph!!!!). I prefer to route a kick out of one of the outputs for external eq'ing. There are also some nice loops to jam with! All in all, this card is highly desireable but you must think about how a bass player plays in order to really enjoy these sounds- don't think keyboard at all! Then these sounds will really shine.

How do you compare Bass$Drum board with the bass and drum sound of Triton?
I have both xp-30 and triton, and am looking for non dance-oriented bass and drum sound.

They are very different sounds IMHO. The bass sounds from the Roland boards simply blow the Korgs factory bass sounds out of the window- but this is to be expected as a big part of an 8MB boards is dedicated solely to bass sounds. However, I think that the Korg basses sit really well in a mix unlike Alesis QS series basses etc.

As for drums, the acoustic drum sounds in both are excellent. But I much prefer the toms in the Roland board as well as some of the ring and piccolo snares. The Korg has better processed/rock snares IMHO. The open and closed hi hats are much more realistic in the Roland board but I much prefer the ride and crash cymbals in the Korg!!!!

If you use both instruments with a sequencer such as Cubase or Logic (in Logic set up a mapped instrument in the enviroment) you can easily assign the sounds from both to your chosen master keyboard for the best of both worlds!!

PS- Korgs new dance/synthe board has some killer new (non realistic) drum kits and sounds! I wish that there were more than 2 slots in the Triton as I'd love to add this board to my other 2 boards! Oh Well.

Okay, I've got some mixed reactions on how the SRJV10 Board sounds from you guys. I still have questions though:

1) On the newer SRX boards, the drum sound great, but you can do some realistic flams and things with the snares due to the velocity crossfades. Is this possible on the SRVV10. I listened to demos from the Roland SRJV Audio CD, but couldn't tell.

2) Is there a WIDE selection of Kicks, Snares, Toms and Cymbals on this board? Are the sounds really convincing?

3) Would I be better off picking up a used Roland TD-7?

Epu- I couldn't comment on the SRX drums board and how it compares to the JV board 'cause I haven't heard it yet!

To me, the drums in the JV board sound very realistic if you play them thinking like a real drummer!!!! The guy that I worked with did some demos with just his guitar and vocals and sounds from the bass and drums board and it sounded like a real band IMHO!! That's really saying something I think!!!!!!

Southern Comfort- The future loops construction board for the Triton is a massive waste of money IMHO!!!! I wouldn't be caught dead paying that amount for 20 songs in the sequencer set up to trigger just OK sounding loops which you can get of any sampling CD or sampling them yourself. Somone at Korg was definetly on something when designing this board!! Of course this is Just my Opinion. Cheers.
