So does that mean you're keeping the s910? As much as I loved the G70, as you did before the PA2x, 76 keys is not always an optimal keyboard. AND, I'm beginning to feel that Yamaha his hit a home run with the s910.

Yea, the s910 stays and I agree, 76 keys is not always optimal, although 18 months ago I didn't think so. Cass, I'm with you on Yamaha hitting a home run on this one.

Steve,
So, since you only wanted to keep 1, why the decision to sell the PA2?
TOTL vs MOTL

Lee, a couple of reasons. I use to play more instrumental material at my gigs (95% senior venues) and the 76 keys were a bonus when I wanted to play a few piano solo tunes with the arranger features turned off. I'm doing a little more vocal work now, most venues I play have a piano, the upscale assisted living ones usually have a grand piano. Now the piano solo stuff can be played on the acoustic instrument. For the vocals just feeding left hand chords and some comping with the right hand and 61 keys does the job.

One of the many features that sold me on the Korg was the "Songbook" feature for creating playlists. The s910 has an improved MFD feature that mimicks the "Songbook" on the Korg.(but you can't save key changes) It works well for me live, the Yamaha jazz/big band styles and the long list of third party styles that can be stored on a USB stick then pulled up on the MFD is a great combination. I'll miss lots of the goodies on the Pa2xpro.

Way to go, Steve...I find the PSR-S910 perfect for gigging, and it's a real doddle to move around.

Using an MOTL arranger isn't the penalty it used to be a decade ago...now the S910 easily rivals top range instruments for features and sound.

Good luck with the sale of your Korg.

Ian

Maybe I sound like a stuck record, but I just want to point out (again! ) that you CAN use arrangers for more than simply OMB gigs and strict arranger play, and for those that like to step out occasionally (or often!) and play with others , you know, those slackers that are always the worst musicians and lazy and have poor hygiene and personal habits, etc., a 76 allows you a MUCH greater degree of choice in what you play and how you play it than a 61.

Not that there's anything WRONG with a 61, or an 88, or even a 45, don't get me wrong. But for gigging flexibility, IMO, it's hard to beat the good ol' 76...

Gary,, You're right on the money with your comment. I'm really enjoying the s910, but more important so are the audiences.

Tony thanks, it's the right choice it's just been sitting in a gig bag for the last 4 months.

Diki, No question about 76 keys, offers lots of flexibility but for what I'm currently doing the s910 is just a better fit.

If you are doing more singing..won't you miss the TC helicon?

When I auditioned the 910....the VH was not too good.

I could not give up the keybed for the one on the MOTL Yamaha...but that's just me.

Lee, the VH on the Yamaha is awful, I picked up a Harmony M unit to use the the s910. I will miss the built unit on the Korg.

Keybed the Korg is superior, no doubt. Unfortuantely, it's a compromise, but I can live with it. No sense keeping $3000 give or take stored in a keyboard bag. if it's only going to depreciate as time goes on. Best take the cash and maybe get ready for the next great board to come down the pike.

Ditto to everything you've said, Steve. Those 76 boards (G70 and PA2x) are great boards, no doubt. But at some point you gotta balance your needs against your wants. I think we'll both be happy with our s910's... at least until the next time.
