thanks Gunnar Jonny.
those were two terrific demos. The audya really sounds sweet . Even the midi drums sounded great let alone the audio drums and that bass sounds as live and real as anyu i have ever heard.

Correct me if i am wrong but did he demonstrate that the Audya now has a fully functional sequencer and sampler ????? Does anyone have a link to the specs on this as if it has the Audya now has become a serious all in one keyboard and real competition now to my PA1X. This is the first time i have been seriously tempted to buy another keyboard.

Link to Ketron newspage: http://newsletter.ketron.it/

As I understand the demo (Video 17) there is an option to record sounds
stright into the HD, save into soundbank and pick as other sounds to
play.
Also there is sequenser, as we can see by his making of "Billy Jean".

Agree, it sounds real nice, as usual drums and bass are very "live" as
the way Ketron managed by SD1, but now I think it's even better.
I was close to go for PA2X Pro, but I think I'll wait until the OS4 are
out and see the reports from users before decide what to do.
If hardware are a part of it, it's better wait 'till new series shipped
to the dealers.

Btw.
Now when James have MS under examination, I find that machine interesting
too, and if they manage get it work well as an arranger, I think it's
worth looking at.
Maybe overkill for an arranger player, but it opens doors to other areas
if we're willing to explore and learn.

there is nothing in the audya manual that says it has a sequencer built into it . Also yamah claim to have a sequencer on their instrument and it is not a sequencer. It has very basic record functions and barely anything else. I suspect the audya is the same. similarly there is nothing in the manual about its sampling abilities . The demo did not explain if the samples could be edited sliced and layered like my PA1X. I know these are new functions but i want the specifications not speculation.

Anyone that is sequencing in an arranger (or even WS) these days is missing 95% of the capabilities and ease of use of a computer based system. I think that all arranger sequencers really NEED is fairly basic abilities, but a strong emphasis on what is needed at the PLAYBACK end of things... easy editing of sounds used per track, basic track global offsets for volume, effects, dynamics, etc., and then easy ways to manipulate the playback of the file... Markers, conditional loops, preset mute and solo groups, integration with the style and multipad section, things like that.

The arranger is still primarily a 'performing' instrument, and would benefit from those areas being the focus of development rather than trying to simply ape (poorly) the capabilities of computer sequencers. Sure, you need basic 'scratchpad' recording, for when inspiration strikes when you are away from the house, but little else, in truth. Let's face it, most us us have a computer with MORE than enough horsepower for a good sequencer... And the added real estate on a decent monitor makes editing operations that are a PITA on a tiny arranger screen so easy to do, one is tempted to do it more often.

I haven't used an on board sequencer for anything more than a scratchpad since the early nineties (maybe earlier!) and don't miss the hell that working on detail editing on a tiny, tiny display puts you through...

That's old news, but the one demoed in video 17 does have
a function you can record a style live and play back.
That function is new, is'nt it, and if so it would be a
kind of spoky if it was already written in the "old" manual.

Btw, AJ did mention about sequencer added in OS4, did'nt he?

I don't regret buying; I've been happily using it for many months while watching the rants and raves. The new OS should be like getting a new keyboard.
My friend Semilive also has an Audya. He is liking it more every time he plays it.
He would probably have opted for the 61-note model if it had been available.
I may consider getting the module at some point, simply because I could use a very light-touch controller to save wear and tear on my arthritic wrist. Probably not though, because I do like to have everything in one package.

No, the Audya dont have Sequencer at ALL, not just some basic features but not at all.
All you can do is just record what you play in realtime, similar to Korg's Backing Style.
