Hi All,

I am meeting Robert Messier in Manchester UK on Wednesday night, this will be near to one to one as it gets, it’s a small shop and the night session will not be as busy as the day. Are there any questions you would like me to ask him, I think I will be asking the obvious? When!It still doesn’t appear to be at all clear with the size of the upgrade, it’s massive. leezone I will take a tape measure with me and a pad.

Tony

Hi Tony
Hope you get to spend enough time to ask him your questions, and mine too, you know what I mean. Good luck

Midi master functions ...

Did they add midi master functions to OS4, so the Audya will be able to function as a high end master keyboard?

Tony,

it seems you've got your confirmation that the update package is a big one....

I forgot to ask about the legacy styles (MS styles) - if it's now possible to load them directly into the Audya (w/o going over SD1 oder XD3) - maybe you could ask this for me.

Joe

Joe,OS4

Yes you are right it is over 1 Gig, it may need to come on a number DVDs , I understand on DVD it takes about 2 hours to load it on, the USB1 is slow. When I get OS4 I might take the HD out and load it into a caddy and make a backup of the HD, buy a spare one. I will be getting a backup set of disks from the UK dealer hopefully Wednesday, I still think everyone should have a set, it’s a no brainer. Joe, you can perhaps see where this is going if you do have a disk crash, it’s going to take you about 5 hrs to put it all back. I am not certain if this is getting too complicated for the average punter, just imagine if Ketron bring out (dare I say it) OS5. Joe if your home PC goes down, you throw it away it’s only going to cost £300.00 for a new tower, you can’t do that with a KB. I will ask Robert about all the implications about the upgrade. I think that’s why Ketron are trying to find a way around the problem and why Frank and AJ are a little quiet. OS4 is out but we can't have it yet.

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony
I shouldn’t worry about the size, Wersi OAS7 is currently 1.6GB in size and when downloaded can be stored on 3 CDs or 1 DVD, (Updates are the same) with the loading time direct from CD/DVD of about 5 min’s, (Excluding Windows which doesn’t have to be altered) thus no owner bats an eyelid.
Audya will obviously take a little longer, but it still shouldn’t be difficult.
Regards

Bill

BTW: With the Wersi if for some peculiar reason you did need to re-load Windows, you would have to allow an additional 10 min's or so to the loading time. (You load it directly off an image disc)
