Well, after receiving my 910 yesterday afternoon (thanks so much to Frank!!) I'm actually sore today from playing so much last night - I am thrilled so far with my choice! Having trouble with a few things, i know i've got quite a few cobwebs upstairs, but right now i'm having trouble saving a style file, after i pull an old style up, tweak it how i want, choose voices, etc, I go to the function button, and execute and save the style file - but then when i pull it back up, the voices i've chosen are no where to be found!
Didn't there used to be a tutorial on this somewhere? Can't find that either! Is it me, or lack of sleep, ???
any help, always appreciated. . .

Jill...
Your question is one of the most asked about the Yammie OS. http://www.psrtutorial.com/forumIframe.html
Scroll down to "Understanding PSR/Tyros Features" > "Registration" and look for "Registrations Made Easy (I hope)" posted by Gary (Travlin Easy)

Jill,
Perhaps you don't realize that after you "execute" the changes and then "save" the whole style it is not going to be found where the original style was but in the "user" bank if that is where you saved it or in the "usb" bank if that is where you saved it with a USB thumb drive plugged into the back. If you are not looking in either of these two places you are still in the "preset" bank and hearing the original style as the factory liked it.

I did actually rename it, and saved it in the user area, but still the saved changes don't stick. Does this mean that I HAVE to put it in a reg bank? I thought for some reason I could just save the newly named style, and call up the style.??? I know i'm missing something, I'll keep on reading thru the boards and tutorials -
thanks all . .

If you edit the voices and/or effects on a factory style, you must then go to FUNCTION, thenDIGITAL RECORDING MENU, then STYLE CREATOR. Press EXIT once, then store the style in the USER area by pressing button "I" or SAVE, press SAVE again, rename the style, then press OK.

Try this.... pick a factory style.
Go to mixing console. Keep tapping it until you see the style tracks. Change the sound in several of the tracks or just one to try this. Play it so you hear the difference. Now, hit the "function" button and select "digital record" tab. Now select "style creator". Now use the tab to the right button and select the tab called "assembly". Here you will see a save tab in the screen. Select "save"(j) then you will see the "save"(6) at the bottom of the screen. The name of the currently selected preset style will be in the bottom of the screen. You don't have to change the name for the new sounds to be saved with this user style. You can change it if you like. Next press "ok" (8). It will say "now executing" and you will have this style saved with it's name in the bank called user styles. I just did it as I wrote it and I can play the original preset with a normal bass sound and my user style with the same name with a synth bass sound. You do not need to do anything with a registration memory for this to work. You must be missing a step somewhere so I've documented the entire process here for you.

I was refering to making OTS changes and just resaving not editing the style.....sorry Style Creator is the way.

Ian,
your way works too! I saw that when you first enter style record mode you don't see the save button unless you go to a different tab or as you say just press the exit button and you will see save as an option.

Yes, George, that's the way I got used to doing it...in fact I usually press Tab more often than EXIT to get to SAVE.

Okay, and thanks to all, I can now change and save the instruments in a style, but I guess I didn 't elaborate on the other issues i'm having - on my 2100, i could open a style and tweak - changing not only the instruments in the style, but also the right hand voices for each OTS, and also choose another multi pad, and also turn a rhythym channel off. When I saved my new style, all these things would be saved. Can i not save all these things to a new style file on the 910, or must i use a reg bank button to save all this??
thanks all-
