I don't think Ketron have much say over what a dealer puts up on their website. If the dealer wants to shoot themselves in the foot, that's their lookout. I just am starting to find it hard to believe how BAD most demos are today, even many factory ones. I've heard the most Godawful rackets from Roland, Korg, Lionstracs (OMG! those set new lows! ), Wersi, you name it. Only Yamaha seem to grasp the concept that, if people hear a lousy demo, they are going to assume it's a lousy product... after all, 'that's a PROFESSIONAL demonstrating the product, isn't it? If HE can't make it sound good, what chance have I?'

Doesn't stop Ketron's own demos still being pretty amazing, though. Bottom line for me has always been, is HOW much better the Audya sounds worth HOW MUCH more it costs..?

Jury is still out on that one, as far as I am concerned. This pile of poo didn't do anything but muddy the waters.

In view of all that then, Diki, maybe manufacturers should tighten up on their dealers about what those dealers can and can't put out for general consumption. Probably an administrative nightmare that companies don't want to touch, but for the damage done by demos like the one in question here it might be prudent for manufacturers to look at some kind of vetting process.

But that would put the onus on THEM to make them good, and we've all seen how much the budgets for promotion and advertisement have been slashed, lately.

Bit of a downward spiral, that. Produce an uber-expensive product, don't promote it, equals recipe for disaster in any business.

The buzz goes on on here but, in the real world outside of this asylum, Joe Consumer is being asked to dig deep into his wallet for what, for him, doesn't appear to be a particularly brilliant advance in arrangers, if he bites on that demo.

I know Yamaha have been getting away for years dislodging the dough from pockets for less-than-brilliant advances model-to-model, but they know how to sell the sizzle.

At this rate, Ketron, in terms of sales, seem doomed to continue as 'also rans'; and, even then, for how much longer?

Livedrums, guitarloops and sliders, oh my.
