Hi,

Can somebody help me out?

I was trying to use my XP-80 as a master triggering sound from a Yammy S90.

I was using my standard user performance 001. In this performance I have my most used sounds. Although there are 16 parts, I've set-up only the first 8 with my most used sounds. So when I play, I play in Performance mode. I hit the Part button right away. Then as I play my songs, I can easily switch between my favorite 8 patches on the fly within the same song... it works great.

I wanted part 16 to trigger a sound from my S90. So I got to Performance/Midi and pull up Part 16. I set the channel to 16 (set the S90 to receive on channel 16). I set the Rx Switch off (which shouldn't matter anyway). I set Tx Switch to ON, and I set Local to Off, because I only want to hear the external sound source.

Well the XP-80 is sounding as well. They're coming out layered. This shouldn't be since I have Local Off for Part 16. In fact, even if I turn Tx OFF, it still triggers the external sound source.

I bought my XP-80 used off of ebay and am thinking it's broke.

I think I should also mention that when I hit the Local/Tx/Rx button, and go to part 16, it's indicating Tx is ON and Local is ON, even though I turned them off in Performance/Midi.

It's broke aint it? My only solution has been to create a user patch with all four waveforms off. Basically, an empty patch. Assign that patch to part 16, so that I avoid they layering.

Am I missing a parameter I need to set or is it broken?

Thanks for your help.

Peace
Bob
