what is the best or the worst company that you experienced with warranty and repair?


Please share your experiences, here with other members.

besides,if you've heard lies, from some companies share it please to.

so, maybe we can make a black list for some worst companies and green list for good companies.

I had a pretty bad experience with Ketron, but it was over 10 years ago.

I would prefer to not have to ship my keyboard for repair. I had to do this with my Solton X1, and twice they returned me broken replacement boards. Third time was a charm, but they made me accept a board that had a gash on the cover.

I've been happy with Yamaha. When I purchased two PSR-S900's and both were defective, they let me return both even though I put a scratch on one.

My Yamaha repair facility is less than a mile from my home! I rarely need them, but it's good to know that they're there.

There's an authorized Yamaha repair facility about 60 miles from my home. I have used them at least three times for different model Yammies I have owned.

PRO: Once they knew I made a living with my keyboard, they made the repairs VERY quickly.
CON: I think they are a bit pricey.

But it is comforting to know I can get help when I need it.

Warranty and repair issues are going to vary wildly from country to country, and also over time as companies change distributors. Each individual country (or at least, group, like the EU) has different warranty legislation and requirements, and the quality of service is usually predicated by the distributor, not the parent company (or at least the distributor gets in the middle), so I think we ought to be VERY careful drawing any conclusions about the issue based on reports from either another country, or another time...

Diki is right. Had a great relationship with the old Solton (Ketron) guys. Don't expect much from the new distributors.

I had a great dealings with Lou & Aldo from Bell/Ketron. They were also about 10 miles away from me at that time.

Worst dealing I had was with Roland USA over my EM2000. Thanks Roland!

Well let me add to this, I also had a good dealing with Korg USA, I had an IX300 that just when blank, sent to a repair shop, they had no idea, they shipped it to Korg USA. Korg had to wait two months from Japan to get a new mother board, but they repaired it out of warranty free of charge. I aslo waited 5 months to get the board, but it was worth it.

Also the issue I had with Roland was more that the EM2000 had a big problem with their screens and I paid to have the screen replaced, out of warranty, over $400 and shortly after a year the screen was missing lines again, I ended up selling it.

Best experience I had was with Roland, though...

My G70 started to hang on boot up back in 07, right in the middle of my busiest time. And only a week or so left on the warranty, but rather than have to send it to a repair center and wait for its' return while they diagnosed it, Roland basically sent brand new boards for ALL the areas that might have been the problem... so essentially, I got almost 80% brand new componentry put in, at no more cost than the table fee for the local repairman (he did it in an hour) and haven't had an issue since.

The repairman told me on the QT that the replacement cost for the new main motherboard and all the other systems replaced was more than I could have bought a nice new G70 at discount!

I am not saying Roland are the best OR the worse, just illustrating that everyone's experiences can vary wildly even from the same company and the same country. I just don't think we will be able to come to any conclusions as spread out as our membership is, unless one company ALWAYS sucks (and who stays in business long doing that?) about this issue.

My best experience was with Ensoniq, may they rest in peace or whatever they are doing now days. They never asked, they never looked at the calander, then just fixed it and sent it back prepaid.
