You see, I am thinking of adding this module to my keyboard set up, but I have *NO* "Great" Rhodes piano sound as such, and i would like to know if the XV 3080 has one onboard. If not, then it will be a bit (a lot) of a dissapointment, as I want that "hard" Rhodes Piano to complete my set up. True, i could buy a Rhodes Piano and do it that way, but with 128 poly on the 3080, it must have some great sounds on it.

Is there anywhere i can listen to demo's of this Sound module?

Hi!

I have an XV-88, and there are plenty of rhodes sounds. Some are bright and bell-like (don't really like those) but there are some thick warm fender-rhodesish patches as well such as the trem-rhodes, (you can remove the tremolo for a nice sound) and the Rholitzer (if you punch it you get the a wurlie keyboard). With the effects available its quite easy to tweak the sounds... if you'd like a sample email me at smith.matthew@ic.gc.ca and I'll put one together when I get home from work.

One of my favourite is the Dyno Rhodes sound; there is a preset called Hit Rhodes, where it's layered with a D 50 Rhodes and an MK 80 Rhodes, with velocity switch: the effect is simply unbelievable.

Thank you Dante Fran, and Chris for yor replies.

There is a possibilty of me exchanging my Psr 8000 (yamaha) for a XV88, but they are rather big aren't they!. Chris, I assume you are reffereing to the Xv88 patches?!?, and Fran, would you be talking about the XV88 as well? "Sticky Rhodes"?

Whatever, the XV sounds like a great board to me, but 76 keys would be better because of little space at home.

Thanks all.

Actually I am referring to an XV 3080 patch, but since the internal architecture is the same, the patch can be easily programmed on the XV88. By the way, I am still waiting for a Sound Diver update for the 3080; does anyone know of a system to upload the internal patches and save them?
Thanks

Hi,

The XV series all have the same basic patches, so most from the XV-88 are in the XV-3080.
You can also add the SR-JV80-03 Piano Board to get more top quality piano sounds.

Trading in for an XV-88 - well, they are big. Approx. 60lb, and take up a fair amount of space. The feel is great though - compared to the other boards out there.
