Thought I would start a new topic on XV-88 as the one on XV or not XV was getting way long.

I have taken the plunge and put money down on the XV-88, I am just waiting for Roland to get it to me.I am anxiously awaiting. Thanks Inray, Korgsman and all others for the valuable input. All your postings helped me make up my mind. But....

What sealed the deal for me was the VHS tape that the Roland Users Group just sent me.

It is the 2000 New Product Video - there is a section showing off the XV-88, seeing and hearing is believing ( especially when I can't actually get my hands on one yet )! As soon as I saw this video I was on the phone and told my local music store to get me one.

I was lucky to get in queue as the XV is already behind schedule on delivery and the store here will only get 2 of them initially.

The Roland Rep. in this area is not taking any more orders for the XV-88 for at least 30 days, since they are so back ordered. This synth is creating alot of excitement.

Can't wait to join back into the discussions as a user and owner of one of these little jewels.

Ken

Congrats Ken,

I had an opportunity to play the XV-88 for about an hour last weekend: a fresh instrument, indeed. You're in for a treat.

The thing I enjoyed was that you really have to approach the unit in a different way, what with manner in which the patches are layered.

Restated, it has an expressive capability that sucks you in; you'll probably develop new techniques and musical approaches as a result. You'll know what I mean when you get your hands on one.

I may hold off on getting a 5080 until the new product furor dies down: however, if that $1750 quote pans out, I just might change my mind :>

Yes you will have much fun with the XV88. I played one again yesterday and it brought a big smile ): to my face!!!!

I'll be really interested to see the workstations that Roland should be releasing later on. Cheers.
