Actually, few of those had totally new drum loops. And an AWFUL lot of them were in very specialized musical styles (Italian, etc.) that few have much use for.

I'm talking about styles with new drum loops, new guitar loops, new bass loops, the same stuff that makes the ROM styles SO good!

Maybe that was one of the problems, there wasn't a reaaly big push. Bell Duvox after the MS series, didn't really stock any of the new style disks either. At least when I asked they were always out.

If they came on a disk (and six or more per disk) then they didn't have new drum loops in them, IMO. The data for just ONE set of full audio loops is going to be more than a floppy can hold...

20 disk. Let's say 80 completely new styles ( I have the disk). So, I really don't know what your talking about.

How many styles has Yamaha made for the Tyros ?

One day I'll shoot a video for you Diki with all the new styles that came out.
Sd1 & SD1plus styles only have audio drum loops. All other parts were midi based. 4 to 6 styles per disk. Most of the disk had 4 styles.

Some of the best styles came out after the keyboard launched. Unfortunately Ketron did not market them. I knew because I had them at NAMM shows when I was behind the keyboard.

Yes, those styles sound AMAZING. And you are going to want MORE, and more, and more...

Ketron's past performance in bringing out loads of styles with live loop drums on them for the SD-1 was not very impressive. Making your OWN live loop styles is vastly more complicated than doing them with MIDI (and so few of us can even do THAT). Using other user's live loop styles that have loops taken from commercial libraries brings up all sorts of copyright issues, not to mention there are few audio drum loop libraries out there that firstly, contain complete performances with plenty of Intros, Endings, break/fills etc. in addition to the basic patterns and fills, and secondly, even fewer in the sort of styles that appeal to the majority of the somewhat elderly arranger demographic...

I personally think that how an arranger impresses you AFTER you've played it for maybe three or four years is what decides whether it is good or not. That new car smell DOES eventually wear off... But MIDI based arrangers can continually expand their style library with translations, user styles and third party styles with little difficulty, at least compared to live loop ones. I've got a TON of stuff in my G70 it didn't come with.

I just wonder if that degree of freshness is going to happen to the audio arranger... Time will tell.

Audya has a boat load of styles.

Yup.. and they are/were fantastic. Again, some of the best styles made for the SD1.

Of the over 250 (256 ?) styles on the SD1, 198 of the were carried over from the X1. Just like the Audya had styles carried over from the Sd series.

The 198 styles from the X1 did not have any audio loops, they were all midi based. However they were enhanced with the SD sound engine. opps..wife wants the computer. If she gets on FB,I may not be back tonight !

Diki,

How many additional styles has Roland provided for the G-70? Roland brought out version 3 for the G-70 and basically said to hell with the customer we're done. You change your tune like changes in the wind. First the audio loops weren't going to work. Then it was "well they don't work for the more complex chords" and you were right about that. Now it's "well how good is it in three to four years'?

Face it your G-70 and mine is old and dated. Yes it still sounds good but the Audya sounds way better. Plus it has been abandoned by Roland. Ketron has actually done a better job supporting their customers than Roland has.

You must be very insecure about your G-70 otherwise you wouldn't be knocking everything else. Give it up, there are other good arrangers out there besides the G-70.

Tom
