Gang- Going to order a RockNRoller (R10) http://rocknrollercart.com/products.php Several guys on the SZ have used this cart for a few years and seem to be, from the history I've read, very pleased with the purchase. Some questions: 1) My old cart weighs 36.4 lbs. The R10 weighs 30.0 lbs. Q: Will I notice a decrease in load stability to speak of? 2) The R10 has an accessory shelf for the bottom of the cart. I'm not sure I need it and it costs $69.99. Q: Can anyone comment on why or why they didn't decide to purchase and if in hindsight they felt they made the right decision? 3) The R10 has optional larger and locking wheels available for the front at about an extra $5 per wheel. Q: Have any of you went this route? Comments? 4) I see a best price at $169.99 at both Sweetwater and AMS. Q: Does anyone know if there's a better price available elsewhere? (Specifically, do George Kaye and/or Frank V carries this product?) Thanks in advance!!! ------------------ Bill in Dayton

I have used this unit for several years and bought a shelf for it last year. I use it a little differently because of the length of the G70. I load my Bose and smaller items on the bottom, and put the shelf on the highest holes. This allows my keyboard to ride high, making it easy to lift it to the stand.
In my case, the shelf is great for keeping the keyboard off my other equipment and not having equipment sitting on my keyboard.

I use the R-10 with a locking small wheel and have used it every day for five years. I've only put air in the tires once and never had to do it again. As for the shelf, the one that they make is a heavy, piece of junk. Several months ago I posted a photo of the shelf modification that I created, which consists of nothing more than two lengths of 1-inch box aluminum fitted with detent pins. It takes just 10 seconds to install, lightweight, easily stored and transported, completely corrosion proof. Cost about $40 and took 30 minutes to make using a hacksaw and drill. It is capable of supporting approximately 150 pounds. From my perspective the Rock & Roller R-10 is the best thing since sliced bread. Gary

thanks The top rack is constructed from two lengths of 1-inch box aluminum measuring 48-inches long. I purchased them from Home Depot. I also purchased 4, stainless-steel, detent pins from Home Depot as well. The pins have a pull ring at one end, and a tiny, spring-loaded bearing at the insertion end and measure 1-1/2 inches ling and 1/4-inch in diameter. At each end of the box aluminum strips I cut a 1-inch slot that fits perfectly over the upright arms of the Rock & Roller. The upright arms of the Rock & Roller are made of 3/4-inch, box steel. After cutting all 4 slots, I measured the height of my Bose Compact base unit, added approximately 4 inches to the measurement, and using duct tape, taped the box aluminum to the Rock & Roller. Then, using a 1/4-inch drill, I drilled a hole through the box aluminum bar(s), and through the Rock & Rolle handle(s) until the drill came out the opposite side. This allowed me to insert the 1/4-inch detent pins through the holds and the spring loaded bearing held them firmly in place. To prevent the pins from being lost, I drilled a tiny hole in the box aluminum bars a couple inches from the end, inserted a 6-inch length of nylon-coated, stainless-steel wire and anchored it in place with a dab or hot-melt glue. The other end was then wrapped in the detent pin's pull ring(s). This keeps them attached to the box aluminum bars all the time, thereby eliminating the possibility of loosing them. I'm off for the next four days and hopefully, will go sailing. When I get back to work on Saturday, I will shoot some photos of the fully loaded Rock & Roller from several angles so everyone can see just how easy this system is to set up and how much the R&R can hold. Cheers, Gary

We've all had this same thought. Our friend, Dickie T, said he is going to do it, including a power winch to get it in the van.

Bill,
I lubed mine with silicone grease that I use for fishing reels--it works just fine. And, I've only had to lube it once since I purchased it more than 5 years ago.
As for creating a performance cart, a couple guys have done this using the R-10 and R-12. Essentially, everything was anchored in place using Industrial Strength Velcro and bungee cords. In each case that I'm familiar with, the speakers were placed on each side of the cart, while the keyboard was placed on a top shelf. The rigs were moved in and out of vans fitted with hydraulic lifts for wheelchairs.
Some of the guys were quite creative and covered the front of the keyboard and everything beneath it with a sign made of plastic-coated fabric and professionally lettered. The sign doubled as a cover while the rig was stored in the van, and also served as protection on rainy days.
Cheers,
Gary
