Years from now no-one really cares ... just make it sound good. I'm suprised to hear you say that. I think a great many people care. Maybe not on this forum, but in the larger world, people care. It's an important part of our heritage, of who we are and where we've been. Seems to me, the least we can do is be factual about it. People like Leonard Bernstein, and Wynton Marsalis (a Nobel laureate), and numerous other music historians, have dedicated their lives to making sure that it's (music) story is told (accurately) and preserved. I know it's not smart to disagree with 'the boss', but hopefully there is room on this forum for opposing views. Spalding is right; 'someone is always trying to rewrite history'. If that person is in a position to influence and educate our youth, don't we have a responsibility to speak up? Perhaps this is not the right forum, but this is where it happened. JMO. chas

He's no historian, but he is a player...very interesting choice of tunes.
BTW, I'll ALWAYS believe that knowing where you're coming from, musically, is critical. The time-period, politics, technology, cultural issues...all these things make music what it is, and differentiates the types of music from each other. Music is obviously not created in a vacuum. If you don't know where you came from, you won't get to where you're going, musically.
It's important to know where you're from.

Since you sak me to put a song on the tube with my Audya and my guitarist my wife had surgery and some very serious complications arose and she was in ICU for four days with a bad infection and is still at Henry Ford hospital. Fighting a real battle right now so I hope to get her home soon and start the recording.
