I'm not at my keyboard at the moment, but apparently Yamaha is telling me you CAN map a Musicfinder entry to a Registration by using the Memory key and pressing the registration from the music finder screen????

Please see the response from Yamaha Support:

Al,
Regarding model:TYROS4
To have a music finder setup mapped to a Registration, simple call up the music finder you want to use, then press [Memory] then select a registration. Only certain organ patches have the DSP assigned modulation. It is not an assignable feature.
Thank you,

P.S. Please do not remove the " [ref: " in the Email Subject when replying to this email.

How can I map the Musicfinder entries to a Registration entry on the Tyros 4?
also..I would like to change the way the Modulation wheel works on a Custom Organ Voice. When I copy a FullBars patch, the Modulation wheel controls the volume of the patch. I want to modify the custom voice/patch so that the Modulation wheel controls the Leslie DSP effect.

How do I do this on the Tyros 4?

Al, your Yam Customer support email reply merely states it possible to call up a MusicFinder setup and simply save it to a REGISTRATION , but that said, unfortunately, it's still NOT POSSIBLE to do the reverse, that is to have a MusicFinder Record call up a stored REG Bank File setup with all of its many associated settings (transpose, voice selection, split point, text lyrics, etc).

After 10 years of requesting this feature, I've lost hope it's going to happen with either the S910's successor or even the Tyros 4's successor. That said, I'd sure love to be proven wrong.

Irregardless, the ability to easily save a given MusicFinder record setting to REG (1-8) makes for quick set up of custom song regs, supporting whatever custom settings you desire (transpose, split point, voice selections, etc). All and all, I remain very satisifed with my Tyros 4 and appreciate the many improvements (both sound & features) over Tyros 2 and 3.

Yamaha needs to listen more to their customers needs ....or take a page out of KORG's songbook feature, Dual Mp3 player and Liontrac's larger display size, Ketrons ability to play independent simultaneous Play MODES with sliders. Ahhhhhh whats the use.

Donny, I got spoiled too with the Korg Songbook feature, a few other members who use to play a Korg then went back to Yamaha probably think the same. It can't be rocket science or least I don't think it is for some software genius at Yamaha to write a program that would work just like Korg's Songbook. You do have to give credit though, to Yammie for at least upgrading to the present MFD system.

Steve I agree many of the features that KORG incorporates I really miss from my PA800 like the song book, TC Helicon VH, Dual Mp3 player....and also little things that make sense to a pro player like in the back of the unit all the input/outputs are to one side....why is this important you ask?.....Because when you use a Ultimate 48 Kb stand it lets you access all you plugins without blockage...unlike Yamaha Psr's/S 910 units which has it all across the back with the Mic, & USB dead center which get blocked by the pole of the KB stand....sooooo you have to use L plugs, or pull the KB out enough to plug in things which really stinks and gives an unbalanced front loaded feel.
I was a KORG player for many many years on stage & hope they come through this time with some awesome changes all around so I can return...we'll see. (sigh)

Sorry if you already said before and I missed it.

Because although it had so many pluses...that didn't out weight what was more important for MY needs after using it on stage for 6 months I started to realize that KORG'S annoying "folder loading" antiquated PA style OS and lack of usable style support just couldn't get the job done for my needs. What the Yamaha S910 has the Korg doesn't, you just cant have it all so you choose the workaround that serves you better. I hope things change in the future.I not brand loyal ....but I am what works FOR ME on stage loyal. If you have anymore question I'd be glad to accommodate you Lee.

It's unfortunate Yamaha support just pays lip service to these support requests. Either the support person did not really understand the root of the issue with the MusicFinder, or they were just too busy to give a thorough explanation of the solution, but the Memory button for Registrations has NOTHING to do with the MusicFinder from what I can see. Grrrr, this is frustrating me.
