I ordered my E-80 on Monday - should take a week to get it. I'm really excited. Tried one at a local dealer and also played my friend's E-50. Can't wait to start playing. Am selling my Tyros - wasn't happy with the speakers being external. I want internal even though it is more weight.

Hi Marilyn, congratulations on your order.

When you hear the E80's internal speakers, you will want to put it through a seperate speaker system anyway. The E80 is a good instrument don't get me wrong, but the speakers are quite poor. I think Roland would have been better keeeping the weight down and missing this feature out as they did with the G70.

After hearing folks complain about the E80 sound system, I am convinced the settings must be wrong...My guess is the Mastering tools are set on, as well as wrong..Most complaints have come from the UK..Maybe this is why[defeat the Mastering EQ and Compression..

I agree with dropping the E80's speakers, but then again, I hate ALL built in speakers! I am sorry, but I just never play at volume levels that built-ins can cope with on a gig, and at my home studio, I run my G70 through a pair of Mackie HR824's. Talk about sweet!

Hi Fran.
Just to make you happy, the Tyros 2 speakers you can purchase are far worse than the E80's internal ones hehe
I rang well over 20 shops when I got the E80 and everyone mentioned that the internal speakers were not that good. It's not a problem for me as I never used them anyway, but maybe the Americans have managed to set them up better than the UK reps and shops?

Hi, hope you enjoy your E80. I've been toying with getting a Roland too. I have been thinking about the E50 or possibly the E80.

Could you tell me a little about the difference between the 2 keyboards? I know the E80 weighs a ton and has a super sound system, or at least the specs sound like it does. I has the Drawbars and D Beam which the E50 doesn't. I guess I just want to know if the E50 sounded good to you. I have nowhere local to hear one or see one.

Anyway I'm glad one "Marilyn" is getting an E80, I'm jealous.

I just know that the E80 has more bells and whistles than the E50 and I use all that stuff. I haven't looked at the E60 - I imagine it is somewhere between the 50 and the 80 as far as features go.
I am curious to see if the weight will be an issue with the internal speakers. I can always use a dolly - I'm sure I will manage.

Marilyn. What instrument did you own before you ordered your E80 ? It would be really intersting to see from your point of view whether the internal speakers of the E80 are much good. I spent some considerable time with the speaker modelling function and just could not get a decent sound out of them. but when i ran the keyboard through an amp it was l;ike a completely different instrument. I am based in the UK bu8t i dont see how roland could have or would have differentiated between the countries in terms of the speaker settings and i know that i fooled around with the settings heaps to no avail.

I have a Tyros but didn't like the external speakers, the subwoofer especially. Just too big for me to carry around. I like to change every few years anyway so this time I thought I would go with internal speakers. I have 2 Edirol speakers which are small and sounded real good with my Technics. I'm going to probably use those with the Roland. I'll let you know when I get it.
