thanks a lot for the info...it's a shame that Yamaha does not do an XG softsynth that can replace the Microsoft Wavetable within Windows, like the Edirol VSC.

But after all,I think that even with a good GM module ,OMB sounds really good...very good program!
Shame about SFZ too...if it cannot be used multi-timbrally,I'll check out the other one that you mentioned. Thanks Rikki

Here is the Yamaha SYXG 50 program.
When you load the program on XP, you will get an error at the end, (The program was originally designed for Windows NT) but you can ignore this and when you restart the computer, you will have a Yamaha XG player available. (If you want to use it in other programs, don’t forget to select it first, otherwise the program will open the Microsoft player)
As when loading any program, Create a Restore Point First.

thanks,I'll try that out. Is it only a player? I was thinking about an XG synth I can program midi files with. I'll check it out, though. Thanks

Hi ,
if it's the actual softsynth??
you should be able to use it with your midifiles, just not with OMB in realtime arranger mode (because of latency issues)

Actually come to think of it, you should also be able to use it in OMB's "arranger window." It's the section of OMB software that works similar to BIAB ie you type in chord progression & put in style parts from your yammie styles. It's not in realtime, but it's a great way to create a very quick backing track.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi,
actually what I've managed to get up & running at the moment is a combination of the roland vsc3 dxi ( which came with one of my BIAB megapak upgrade's) & I'm using
sfz to play xg soundfont drum tracks .
ie OMB setting is
tracks 1-8 vsc3 ( probably work with hypercanvas also)
tracks 11-16 vsc3
track 10 vsti 1 sfz with xg drum soundfont

best wishes
Rikki

If you can use the Microsoft GS Wavetable synth that comes with Windows, then you will be able to use the SYXG 50 synth just the same.
Hope this helps

I’m running XP Pro SP2 and apart from the one error on install, it works without any problem, try running it in compatibility mode using the Windows NT option.
Hope this helps
