So..... what are the little red numbers in parentheses in the replies column? I can't seem to figure it out. Some replies have it - some don't.

I believe it is the number of replies since you, the viewer, last opened the thread ...

I especially love the little red number(s) feature because it eliminates endless scrolling to locate the first unread reply. Not only does it tell you 'how many' unread replies you've got, but when you click the thread topic link, it 'takes you straight to' that first unread reply. Brilliant!

Mind you, you owe it to yourself and others to go back and read the previous posts if it has been quite a while since you read the thread... sometimes it's easy to forget what was said earlier on a longer thread.

OK - got it (I think) ... still not sure how to make them disappear if I don't respond ... they seem to stay lit up when I go read another topic. I'll experiment. Thanx everyone!

If you you use your Back button to return to the main page, they don't disappear because the page doesn't refresh. Instead use the Index button at the bottom of the last post. This will refresh the page and sort of mark your position on this thread, so when someone else adds to it, your page will show a red 1 again.
