That's a beautiful piece of music, Bill...Boz's voice kinda reminds me of a saxophone (in a nice way).

I have the concert DVD...another tune that is incredible, and that I love to play, is "We're All Alone", also made popular by Rita Coolidge.

Some real nice chord progressions in Boz's tunes..."Lido Shuffle" is also a great piece.

Nice to see someone else appreciate him as much as I do.

Ian

I have long felt that Boz is one of the most underrated singers of his time ...

Loved it till the end...

That vocal stuff was gratuitous...

Just because you "can" do something, doesn't mean you should...

I do agree, Scaggs is under rated...

Both this tune and "We're All Alone" have been on my play list from the day they hit the air.

Wonderful changes. Our sound company did sound here in Lexington for Boz and the warm-up act-Player (Baby Come Back) in 1977. Player had all the clothes, moves, etc. Boz took the stage in jeans, a sweater and white Keds. One of his young players has a rip in his shirt. THEY KICKED PLAYER'S ASS, and this was when they had "Baby Come Back" in the top 10.

No fancy lights-they were kept on medium for the whole concert, except or when he did "We're All Alone" with a soft blue spot. I play "We're aAll Alone" on vibes with my 6 piece band.

Great find on a great musician.

Russ

Bill, I respect your opinion, here, on this piece and on most things.

As far as the ending goes, I believe that, when Boz was working on the harmony parts, the girls just sort of came up with what we hear on this piece. He hasn't traveled with two female singers in the past, and probably had to do some significant work/alterations on arrangements. Boz is so unassuming that he kept the ending, out of respect for the talent of the ladies, and to give them their moment in the spotlight.

After the build at the end, I thought, from a theatrical standpoint, the ending was superb.

But, that's my opinion, and I'm certainly not even claiming that my evaluation is the right one.

I'm just glad Bill posted this piece, and it was easy to go from this one to "We're All Alone".

Thanks, so much, Bill.

Bill, amigo from Dayton, to each his own, haha. I started to add a line like "Wow, and did you hear the ladies at the end!"

7 minutes is too long for a song.......seemed so dragged out for sure... reminds Me of American pie, Piano Man etc,.....
but I loved the chicks vocal ending for sure!

I really enjoyed that...ending and all. I've always like Boz Scaggs.

The one lady sounded like Minnie Riperton. laugh

Captivating. Loved the beginning, middle and THE END. The length didn't bother me one iota. Thanks for posting.

Live, we are allowed to stretch beyond the 3 min. radio attention span, aren't we?

You can do anything live or in studio.....but the "listener" doesn't have to love it.......Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" is another lengthy one I ZZZZZZZZZZZZ too smile

Funny thing as a kid I enjoyed the "BREAK SONG" (23:23 The Vanilla Fudge 1969 "Near the Begining" Album, & In A Gadda Da Vida" LIVE Iron Butterfly (18:51) also smile
