It should be easy to do..you will use the pedals on the PK-5 to trigger the drum rolls. They can send MIDI note data, controller or SYSEX.

The switches on top are to select a mode for the pedals. The pedals send MIDI notes to trigger the action chosen by the above switches. As far as I know, you cannot trigger drum functions AND bass notes at the same time.

Yes, I agree..one or the otherat any one time.
If the arranger would see a note value as a trigger for the drum roll he could use the high C on the PK-5 to do the roll

So, we need to know what MIDI message is the arranger looking for to trigger the drum roll??

Yes DIKI I mean Fills

do you think it can be done?

I was thinking since--I rarely use the high C--second C pedal on the PK5--so would it be possible to assign my Fills to that pedal

What does the Audya manual say is the trigger MIDI event for a fill?

Most arrangers, it is a PC#.

But you CAN trigger a fill with a footswitch, can't you? Why not stick THAT on top of the PK, or just to the RH side?

Way I see it, it is unlikely that the PK can send PC#'s on a different channel to the channel that the bass notes are sending on (could be wrong, though), which is what they will need to do so for sure to trigger fills. Secondly, there is WAY more than one fill in the Audya, so how does ONE button trigger the one you want?

Pk-5 has:
Bass mode - send mono MIDI note msgs on any channel you want
(there is an octive switch as well, so you can cover multipe octives)

POLY mode - send Poly MIDI note msgs on any channel

DRUMS mode - sends MIDI noe msgs as well (setup for drum channel & notes for Roland by default) Totally user programmable note values.

SOUND EFFECTSmode - sends MIDI note msgd as well(setup for effects (rain tc) by default for Roland. Totally user programmable note values.

MIDI CONTROLLER mode - send MIDI controller databy default(Roland defaults) and can be programmed to send any MIDI msg by user programming each pedal.

I think you could send notes from lower C to B...and a Control change on high C.

Eerything I see however only lets you use any 1 MIDI channel PER MODE at any one time...however there is a MIDI channel btton and you can change the channel at any time.
That would not work if you were doing bass notes anda control in the same performance as it would be slow and cumbersome.

I have used mine to control the arranger functions on a T2 and a PA2XPRO. All vars, fills, break, endings(3) start/stop
works perfectly.

I have also used it for manual bass worked fine there too...once you get the right octive setting.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help

After careful consideration at the weekend --I have given up !!!!
LOL

I think the only answer is to get a 6 switch pedal for the fills but it would have been so much easier if i could have assigned the fills to my Pk5 floorboard
Oh Well, its not all bad i guess and we have AJs upgrade to look forward to now--wonder if its available yet?

Take care guys

Rusty
Is the PK-5 velocity sensitive ? I have another thread going concerning this.
