Hi Henni/ tassiespirit, I apologise if I contributed to the confusion. I use the term as defined by wikipedia:
"Gospel music is music that is written to express either personal, spiritual or a communal belief regarding Christian life, as well as (in terms of the varying music styles) to give a Christian alternative to mainstream secular music.
Like other forms of Christian music, the creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of gospel music varies according to culture and social context. Gospel music is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. However, a common theme of most gospel music is praise, worship or thanks to God, Christ, or the Holy Spirit."
I believe Scott was trying to be more inclusive by adding "sacred".
I know there's a Gospel Association of Australia, and I'm sure Hillsong, one my favorite publishers, would recognize the term.
Blessings Guys, we need to make sure our genre is properly represented, so vote yes.

Oh, I understand your point now, and agree. I rarely use the Gospel styles too, neither when I was a Music Director of an Episcopal church nor for some of the oldies that I play in Care Facilities.
Yamaha have some useful Worship styles, that I miss now playing Korg Pa2X.

I simply added this category on this separate thread because I forgot to include it in the music genre section of this other poll thread. The purpose of this poll is to find out how many people enjoy playing religious, gospel, sacred aka worship and prayer music. The only reason I had to create two entry choices is because I was under the impression that polls allow a minimum of two selection choices. The total number of "yes" votes is the relevant one to use to integrate with the other music genres choices in the 'music genre' poll. In light of the complaints by Jorgen and Semilive, perhaps consolidating this thread together with the other thread now, might be a good idea, but only Nigel can do this. Man, there sure seems to be a lot negative energy on the forum in the last 24 hours. Are the stars out of alignment today or something? You guys need to lighten up a bit. I initiated the polls because I had thought the membership would find them fun, informative, and useful. How do others feel?

Well, all I can say, Scott, is keep up the good work. In regards to the recent seeming negativity...I suppose some people seem to go through life standing at the complaint counter. I remember this saying from a friend in AA (he was not the author) "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses." The polls have been very informative, both for SZ'ers and perhaps also for any manufacturer's reps who may be lurking. Ian
