I love that Johnny Cash video, Larry, although, like Scott, it is a bit difficult to watch...Cash was one of my favorites growing up, and the tune "Hurt" really told of the inner turmoil he had over his lifetime. My favorite is this video by Boz Scaggs, a "live" performance...the song never fails to give me chills...there's just something about the whole tune that just "works" on many levels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UAAZZrzNXk&feature=related It is one of my favorite tunes to play as well. Yep well now that I know it was bjork, I am even happier I did not click A full sized string and brass orchestra in Covent Garden, a harpist (both acoustic and electric), a choir of Greenland Eskimo women, and a couple of hardcore electronica boffins, what's NOT to like about that?! Let's face it, Dennis, if DonM can get behind it, it can't be THAT bad! As I explained, simply clicking on the link doesn't force you to listen. I'm sad to see you so timid in discovering new music. Righto Diki, since you have raved about this particular clip (I mean that in a nice way ), I finally succumbed and had a listen.....hmmmmmm...best if I say nothing more!!

Are you talking about the mouthpiece he is blowing into?.
If so, it is a breath controller...looks like a Yamaha model...I have the other version, used on my CS-01, which looks like a whistle. Many Yamaha synthesizers (DX-7, DX-5, CS-01) and controllers (KX-88, KX-76 KX-1, KX-5) had this feature...although I believe he (David Sancious) is playing a Peavey Controller, which had similar capability
The breath controller he's using is a later version, and can be worn like a headset.
Can be used to control volume, filter, etc.
Very expressive indeed.
Ian
PS...you used to be able to buy a unit by "MIDI Solutions" that let you plug in a breath controller, and midi the device to your synth...also, I think Kurzweil may have had a breath controller input on some models.
