Hi

When I open this forum; all I see is subjects about the features in the forum and numerous polls. You have to scroll down the page to see the ongoing discussions.

I find this somewhat user unfriendly; and suggest that these stationary subjects could be moved somewhere else.

Best wishes
Jørgen

PS: I miss a poll about the color of your trousers when perform in nightclubs. :-D

This is something that I expressed hope that Nigel would NOT do when the new forum software came out. He acknowledged that he would NOT do that, but he has done just that! It's his forum and he can do whatever he wishes, but doesn't mean I gotta like it, haha. And I don't. This forum now has more "stickies" than any forum I visit, of any nature. It's not a deal killer but I just don't see the need. It makes for unnecessary scrolling. At most, one sticky, something REALLY important, IMO. Otherwise, I love the forum software.

P.S. I also do not like the flame icon that shows "hot" topics. I think that is distracting and unnecessary. All you gotta do is look at the reply count. Flames are cute for about one day, IMO.

HI All
This is the link I use when coming to the site, http://www.synthzone.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/activetopics/7/1 which takes me straight to the latest postings

Change the 7 to a 1 if you want to just see the topics for the last 24 hrs. or 2 if you wish to see the last 48 hrs.

Hope this helps

Bill

Ok, I'll chime in. I personally LOVE the polls! smile and feel they're both informative and entertaining. I'm the guy that initiated most of them afterall dance

That said, I certainly understand how many appearing at once can look distracting, so I propose perhaps creating one (thread) link at the top of the forum page to take people to a dedicated 'Synthzone Polls' page where all polls appear. I feel Polls generally need to remain up for some time to allow enough of the membership to vote in order to insure the poll results more accurately meaningful, as even after my polls have been up for 2 weeks now, votes keep coming in. I hope my suggestion will keep most members happy, as I really like the poll feature and encourage others to initiate a poll(s) of their own as well. cool Don't know about a 'trouser color' poll though. shocked

Tony, first, you da man! Second, I will repeat... this forum has the most stickies of any forum I visit. And I visit a LOT. If that is good with you... well, you are more accommodating than me. But, people who click on LOTS and LOTS of links here and there, they hate unnecessary clicks and scrolls. This thread is about a complaint. Are you one who never bitches? Going concerns need feedback.

Then again, one son of a bitch beat me out of 25 grand today. So, I got me panties in a wad.

Bill ... mine would be also - damn that stinks ...
Me never complain?!?!? ... you don't know me at all, do you? laugh ...
And I don't begrudge anyone else from complaining ... as I said - "the older I get, the more amazed I am at what bothers people" ... but different peoples buttons are pushed by different things for sure ...
Having met you, I feel that you are one of the coolest, calmest dudes I know ... guitar
And you are right ... if we keep quiet, nothing changes ... wink

Tony, you and DonM are about the coolest dudes I know. Well, add Gary Diamond. He's pretty calm. Me, I am NOT calm these days. That's the problem, ha. Don't let the bastards get ya down, as Kristofferson said.

Well you got to take into account some of the stickies are related to the recent changeover in software. These will go away. Also after the polls have had some time to complete they will also become unsticky again. Please remember that it is not long since we changed forum software so 4 of the stickies are related to that directly. Get a grip guys this was to be expected initially with the change in forum software.

And Jørgen feel free to create that poll you want about the color of your trousers laugh
I will have to think about whether it needs to be sticky or not.

Don't be so pedantic Bill. The stickies that were needed for the changeover in forum software will go away over time.

I will promise you that I will not. I find all those polls pretty annoying!

Perhaps limit the polls to run for a week - or create a dedicated Poll "area".

Haha, had to look up what pedantic meant. I now realize that the culprit was all of those polls staying up top. On all the other forums I visit, a poll is just another thread. They run their own course and do not get special favor. Special favor being a sticky. After all, anyone can create a poll about anything, so, that is why they do not get that all-so-important real estate... the top of the forum.

Also, I just realized that I do not use a desktop computer, I use a laptop and obviously, my screen depth means that I don't have as much showing as someone with a desktop.

I have been webmaster of several forums, so, I do have a bit of experience here. Doesn't mean I'm right, haha. But... one other thing I'll mention is that forums are my favorite feature of the internet. As for stickies, I don't know if the software allows this, but if the stickies can be made to shade (the entire row, if possible) a different color, the eye can, at a glance, tell where the threads begin.

Bill, try the 'Page Down' button on your laptop keyboard. It will drop you a whole screen's worth of display in one go, and avoid the scrolling you have to currently suffer!

Most forums with a bunch of 'stickies', my hand hovers over that every time I go to the main page...
