Hi, Tapas just got the Musikant USB for the PA 2X/800, and those styles are AWESOME.....some may have a German name, but, actually is very usable, in fact, many of those styles are better than the regular PA2X styles, or some of the factory stock styles have been "touch up" and the result is amazing. clap

Many new sounds too, IT has many different sounds, some Hammond organs and Euro-organs, that are much better, saxes, pianos, accordions, voices, etc... is like a brand new arranger. rocker
I am very impressed...I will switch my PA 500 for the 800. eek2
There are some You Tube demos on this Musikant, Good demos, but nothing like hearing it live. keys
Thank you Tapas for letting me hear it, is amazing!!!. grin

In my opinion Jurgen has made the best demo videos for KORG witch is called KORG TV on the German site, although spoken in German they are very good quality and also fun to watch.

Hi Tapas,
from what I have gathered the download (free) is only for registered Musikant users, so if you have already bought the original stick you must register it and then will be entitled to download the update (username and password required).

P.S.: I have one stick on order: should arrive (hopefully) within this week.
Regards,
A.

Hello Miguel, Andrea and Tapas,

I must say I am surprised and intrigued about this Musikant discussion and in particular about Miguel wanting to swap his 500 for the 800 plus Musikant stick ..
Allow me a short history of my own.
In May last year I bought the PA-500 not having the means to fork out on the PA-800 or PA-2X at the time. As many know I started reprogramming the Performances and they were on offer to all and sundry. In the process we tried to adept my resources for the PA-800 and discovered that although things did work out, the PA-800 had substantially more multisamples and much better amplification. ( and better DACs as was recently pointed out).
I was particularly disappointed with some of the basic drum samples and after having heard the PA-500Musikant demo I swapped my PA-500 for the Musikant version, the price difffence by then was marginal, at least here in Holland.
Basically of course the ONLY difference between the two are 40 extra multisamples. Most of these (well over 20, cover organ settings). And there are some improved trumpet and clarinet samples and..........some truly better drum samples noticably for the snare drums.

The performances were also better, but have meanwhile been improved significantly by myself, to which many can meanwhile testify, and the onboard styles are mainly geared to the German market. However they do include great golden oldies, etc.etc.

My point ?

First of all, all of these styles, some with minor alterations, should play very well on the PA-800 and PA-2X without having to purchase the Musikant stick.
And unless you really dig Schlagers, Polkas and Tangos it is hardly worth bothering.

More importantly though, I cannot imagine that the 40 added samples are not largely already covered by the standard multisamples in the PA-800 and PA-2X. This is the real issue really of whether or not one should need this stick in addition to These two top models.
But I am looking forward to hearing from Dreamer whether this is the case or not.

best wishes,
John Smies

Hi John,
first of all it's nice to be in touch again.

Being the owner of a PA2X Pro I concur with your evaluation that Korg could have done a better job in the programming department, especially considering all the possibilities this powerful instrument has to offer. So, when I read Manuel's enthusiastic comment about Tapa's Musikant, I decided to learn more and did a search on the Internet and came up with the YouTube videos and also the user manual. Looking the complete styles list I was pleased to see that -aside from the all the Schlagers, Polkas, etc- there were also many contemporary and latin styles (like 8 and 16 beats, ballads, bossanovas and so on), all of which I use a lot. So I decided to place an order, hoping that with this offer Korg has finally filled a gap that dates back at least three years.
As soon as I will receive my Musikant stick I will post my first impressions.
Best regards,
Andrea

ciao Andrea,

Altre tanto. It's been a while !
I'm looking forward to your appraisal , all the more so as I have the PA-500musikant myself, and cannot imagine it will add substantially to a PA-2X as far as multisamples (= basic sound quality) is concerned. But of course many of the styles will be new to you if you never played the Musikant............
