Posting from the hospital. After 3 weeks of being sick from a nasty virus, my wife Angela was admitted to the hospital this afternoon with a parotid (salivary) gland infection. They are going to put her on I.V. antibiotics for a couple of days. Happy thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to hear your wife is ill, Mikey. Porotid Gland infections can be extremely painful, but fortunately they usually respond quite well to antibiotic therapy. Hopefully, she'll be back home in a few days and life will return to normal.

Sorry to hear Angela's hospitalization, you've got our prayers. Talk to you later this morning. Give me a holler if Deb or I can do anything, we're just a short drive away.

You guys are great, I'm at the hospital now, she's getting some color back. The infection is improving. There's a slight chance they may have her go home tomorrow. They said she could continue some strong antibiotics at home.

I hope she has a speedy recovery Mikey. The antibiotics should do the trick but she needs to continue on them as per Doctor's orders. Some people have a tendency to quit taking them after they feel somewhat better but if they go off them too soon the virus could perhaps come back with a vengeance.

All the best,
Mike

By the way, antibiotics are used to treat "bacterial", fungi and certain parasitic infections so when I said 'virus' I was only reiterating what you said in your first post as to what you thought she had. wink

All the best,
Mike
