Hi Ian, I haven't had a chance to change it to straight 8th yet. Your instruction seems clear and I'll let you know how it goes. It should be a good style for several 50's rock tunes.

That's cool buddy...it's a good way of getting into using the Groove function.

You can also take straight 8ths and convert them to Swing 8ths by doing all the above, but instead of using ORIGINAL BEAT at 12 Beat set it at "8 Beat" and set BEAT CONVERTOR to "12".

Or...instead of using BEAT CONVERTOR, try setting the SWING to "C".

It opens up a lot of possibilities for you. Just trying to help.

Hi Ian- I was able to straighten out the boggie. Sounds great except the fills are all triplet bassed. Is there a way to straighten the fills?

I can only suggest trying it again...I just tried it and the fills were suitable and sounded correct.

If all the rest of the style (Intros, Endings etc) are straight 8ths and the fills are still triplets, it can't be changing the whole style.

Make sure you are first pressing a style Variation button (A,B,C, or D) and then selecting ALL at the opening SECTION screen (bottom right) before you set the ORIGINAL BEAT to "12" and BEAT CONVERTOR to "8" and press EXECUTE.

Scott, did your fills change to straight 8th?

The fills on my "boggie piano" style are pretty much 8th note triplets (three hits per quarter note) So once they straighten out correctly will they sound like two 1/16 notes and an 1/8 note?

You could check to see how the fills are played by recording a short piece in the SONG RECORDER, and then check out the score display to see how it is playing the notes. Mine displays eight 8th notes per measure for both the fills and the main.

So, check it out...

Record a short piece in SONG RECORDER.

To see the bass line, press SCORE, then SETUP (Button #8). At the opening screen, set LEFT CH to 11 (Bass) and press OK.

Press PLAY on your recorder, and SCORE again if not displayed, and you will see the Bass Line.

You could also try another Boogie Woogie style and see if that works better.

Here's the "PianoBoogie" conversion I did with my Tyros 2 (as in addition to the T4, I still have my T2 too).
The converted to straight 8's 'fills' sound ok to me. Montunoman, have a listen & let me know what you think.
