I remember a favorite of mine was the Easy Eight card...eight styles, and, almost every style was usable
Ian! The "Easy 8" became a "must have" for Fran and I as soon as it came out! I could play almost any request with that one batch....I'd love to have all those styles on my PA800 right now.
I still use my own made up Fake Books for gigging, and I usually wrote the name of the style used, and the tempo, at the top of the music.
Some tunes I've had for quite awhile, and it's interesting to see some of the old styles...same tunes, but different arrangers...with some tunes there are as many as four styles crossed out as I added a new 'board.
The
Easy Eight covered a lot of territory...I believe the styles were as follows, Swing2, 8beat3, 16beat3, Disco3, Waltz4, 2beat, Latinbeat and Slowrock2.
The Waltz4 was really nice...simple and effective, and I used Slowrock2 for Floyd Cramer's Last Date.
Yep, you could almost play every tune with just that card.
