Here's the "Morning after" summary:
1. great sounds, esp. drums
2. small and lightweight
3. pretty straightforward if you know the Roland architecture
4. excellent choice if you use custom arrangements (performances) for most things
** a little harder to navigate on the fly, but very doable with practice.
5. reads older Roland styles like a charm (I have some G1000 patterns that I like)
** I'd like to get all the E70-86-80 patterns someday. Fran ?????
There are still a few tiny things that seem to get forgotten when you switch performances, but I'm not counting out "user error" just yet.
I give this a solid A as a working tool for a professional musician. You just have to use it within it's parameters. Sure, it have some limitations, but it's TEEEEENY and light, and relatively cheap. I actually may bring it out on the job one day if I get the right outboard harmony processor to make me as happy as my TC in the PA800. This home studio setup is more fun to play, but the PA800 is far better for all my one night stands with quick load in/load out.
In a few days, after I learn about the hidden locks and parameters .... I might boost the grade to an A+ !
So far, so good.
BTW - Happy Mother's Day
