Remember I told you about my days on a cruise ship?
( This post )

My brother asked me to sit in with him on a gig he had in our home town on June 1st. And to my big surprise he had brought my old workhorse from our band days:

The PSR-SQ16 !!

Look at this baby, it's been through hell and back. It's been on the road on tour for nearly 20 years.

Wow! That sure brings back memories, Doc.

The PSR-SQ16 was a rare bird here in Canada, but I did have one for several months as a demo.

A very powerful instrument, especially the style section.

Someone must have been playing(?)this one with...er...enthusiasm?

If only it could talk...well, on second thought...

It still has my "Music Finder" database taped on it from that particular tour we did back then smile Ah.... memories smile

It may have a couple of broken keys, some buttons that need some convincing to push - but she sure sounds as good as she did back then - and even by todays standards, the sounds hold their own.

SQ16 was my first Yamaha arranger. Had it for two years or so. Boy, was I pleased with it at the time! Swopped it later for an Korg i3. Your photo sure brings back some memories.

Yeah I used a case... but the case doesn't protect against all clear and present dangers that a keyboard on the road may encounter. For instance I know at least one of the broken keys got broken from the behind of a very nice girl I was trying to impress.

That reminds me, there is one amendment to my list of lessons learned:

1. Don't "impress" girls who's 10ft Russian boyfriends work in the engine room.
