I'm guessing he is referring to something like this that accepts standard MIDI and plugs into a USB port on your PC.

My mistake. Thought it had MIDI to PC out instead of std. MIDI out.

There are a lot of MIDI to USB adapters, big and small, simple and complex. I don't see that limitation as a deal breaker.
