According to the Yamaha's Online Services Facebook Page, they are announcing some "Serious News" later this week for Tyros 4 users.

Either a 76 key external keyboard is announced, or maybe software that lets you controll T4 from your DAW, an improved style format using audio styles, playing samples directly from disk.

Or it could be just 2 extra new styles..

The Okey Keyboard Festival starts later this week, so it might be announced there.

Ah.... i just love guessing.... Maybe they'll announce a T4 Module, or even a software version of the T4 that can be controlled in combination with a Motif XF, just like the KARMA for Motif...

If one shouts enough things, in the end one of your list might be true... and you can claim to have had inside information.

Tough if it is announced at OKEY, then it might be something far less spectacular, like a T5 because the T4 is almost sold out.

Can't see Yamaha making a module, as Roland's BK-7M is doing pretty bad sales wise...the store I visited on my last tour in Newfoundland had three BK-7M modules returned by dissatisfied buyers. It is hardly a success story, although some of the accordion crowd seem to like it.

My guess is some kind of a package that allows the instrument to be set up as a dual manual...maybe a special controller keyboard that is designed to fit under the Tyros4 (and perhaps T3).

I will say that anyone who actually knows, isn't going to say anything. wink

Don, Don, Don,

Do I detect a little sarcasm coming from confederate country? Remember, you are the one who sold me an awesome Ketron x1 just so you could go back to Yamaha because you liked the placement of the buttons better. You should call Yamaha(and maybe Donny who has been too quiet lately) and apologize.

If you read into the announcement; it says "T4 Users" so it's not a new keyboard, but some added value to an existing T4 which I agree with Dan could be Styles, Voices, or a better yet a brand new "Music Finder!"

As Clint Eastwood once said, " Go ahead make my day"

A new "Music Finder" with the same features as Korg's Songbook would be sweet!!

On a serious note, with the popularity of the TRX option and the demand for a 76 key keyboard, i could see them add a 76 keys attachable keyboard including software support for setting up extra left and right voices for this new "lower" manuall

Are you kidding me?
Yamaha, as far I remember , never have release an OS upgrade for PSR o Tyros keyboards that cover new styles and sounds. Korg? Yes, Roland? Yes, Ketron? Yes. Yamaha? never.
I must admit that their Beta testing process is very good.

Yes, they prefer to add some function and create a new keyboard smile

Maybe a 1GB sound extension to fill the FLASH memory !

Sadly no new models from Yamaha other than the PSR S650 and the PSR A2000 Oriental. Going by their past launch timing, I guess it would be early 2012 when we start hearing about the S910 replacement. But I, like many, hope it should be announced late 2011(now) and be available in stores early 2012... I can keep wishing though ..to no avail smile Have a good day.

Rikki,
Great to hear from you!
Good chance I'll go Yamaha T4. No $$ for that now.
Been finishing my house and adding a garage...so music has been on hold for a year.
Do have Live-Styler and a MIDI controller..so may get that going for a while. Winter's coming here so I will have some free time soon.

Actually Nedim, the Tyros 4 doesn't really need anything else. It's fine just the way it is.

It's OK for you Nedim you have the most flexible KB in the World, the MS, backward and forward compatible, pity you never heard it played, us mere mortals have to put up with T1,T2,T3,T4 and now T5, you just buy the latest software from Lionstracs and zapppppp you are up to date, BTW is it on the floor or in the cupboard. Seriously, have you knocked a tune out of the MS yet, we are still waiting for your expert opinion on the beasty. Don't let us down now Nedim, I thought you bought the MS to review it and give SZers your views. We certainly need views from someone its all go a bit dead at the moment.

I will say this; when I want to be a "Tweak Monster" (as opposed to a cookie monster), I make new sounds on the Kronos...now THAT is a lot of fun. I've built at least 25 Combi's on the Kronos to cover songs for our Wedding Band. You just get lost in that keyboard and it's just great fun. Tyros 4 is really a different animal; more like a bread and butter keyboard. It does what it does and it does it well. The Kronos, on the other hand, is limitless.
