The Korg PA2x through to the PA3x and Tyros2 through to Tyros 4 are not new models, (Although the manufactures would like you to think they are, however it’s a very rare occurrence for a manufacture to come out with a brand new model) they are just more advanced versions of the PA1x & Tyros. (As are most manufactures (So called) new models)

The Pen is software
No physical hardware is installed into Audya with Pen
Pen is inserted. Software is installed
Pen is removed

Bill Tyros 2-4
of course these are new models
you saying the hardware is same inside T2 and T4?
Memory same?
Body is same?

Come on, these are new models, not like a AJAM or Pen update at all

Hey LeeZone,

The question about model differences especially with Yamaha is really open to opinion.

Yes, maybe a little different case, some different colored buttons, but to my ear , really not any substantial improvements in overall sound. I had a PSR 1000 and the differences between that and the Tyros 3 in sound quality wasn't much.

Personally, I like the 1000 better than the Tyros3.

The Tyros4 added some cool doo woop voices to many of their styles and maybe some slight improvements to some of their solo voices. Does a few changes mean it's a new model?

Yamaha could have accomplished the same thing with a software upgrade for the Tyros3. Instead you have to go spend another $4,000 to move up one number.

Don't get me wrong, Yamaha makes some really great arrangers.

I just like the fact that Ketron offers great new stuff for $60 instead of $4,999 again.

Yes, obviously Ketron has it's problems, but I think the Audya is worth the aggravation.

Now, Korg's Kronos, that's a new model, and a pretty exciting workstation from what I've seen and heard. Next year, I'll be adding one to my array.

In the meantime, when it FINALLY gets here, Ketron's upgrade will kick up the fun factor even higher. smile

Jim

So AJ - if the PenDrive is included in AJAM, that can only mean that Ketron is in on the AJAMSONIC project (as I predicted a while back)???
Swapping over hard drives is not a job all owners can undertake - will local Ketron distributors handle the hard drive exchange/installation??
Looking forward to demos. Carl

so basically for those thinking about getting BOTH the Pen and AJAMSONIC, you just need to buy AJAMSONIC

for those now with Pen thinking about getting AJAMSONIC
i guess you spent the $$$ for nothing

would have been nice to know beforehand

to me makes no difference, as i have neither
