Hi all, I haven't been around much at all this year. I finally got myself a nord Stage 2 and love it immensely. I've also been touring a whole lot with several different Nashville groups. Anyway, the main reason for this post is to tell you I have a new CD out. Several years ago I posted a bossa nova version of a country song that seemed to go over pretty well here. That song is included on this record. Please listen to this 4-minute demo of the album. www.roryhoffman.com/SE_DEMO.mp3
On many of the tunes, I played and engineered everything; I had some friends play upright bass and drums on 4 of the tracks. Otherwise, it's all me. I had a lot of fun making this, and I hope it might appeal to some of you here. Best, Rory

That is awesome Rory. You music is always inspiring and uplifting. Thanks so much for letting us all know. I enjoyed listening to your teaser so much I had to buy "Swing Expedition". I love jazz guitar playing .... and you do that so very well I have to have it in my music collection so I can enjoy it over and over.
Thanks much Nige for your purchase. Helps feed my addiction (and my body, when it comes right down to it). Thanks to everyone else who took the time to listen and comment.

Rory, You've got some great stuff there ... I ordered a number of them ... As is often the case, not all the tunes are 'my style', so it was nice that I was able to 'pick and choose' ... Interestingly, "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" is one of my favorite tunes, but the banjo is not one of my favorite instruments ... would have loved it if you had played acoustic guitar on that one ... All in all, you are a tremendously talented and innovative musician ... Thank you for sharing your work, t.
Ah, but what the 30 second clip doesn't tell you, I've also got a nice accordion solo in polka dots and moonbeams....as if banjo wasn't enough! That was a big part of this album, doing the unexpected and/or slightly unusual with known songs, as well as introducing a few compositions of my own. I thought it would be a good idea to make each track downloadable separately, so people could buy what fit their taste, if they weren't quite up to engaging in the whole experience of the album.
Just a quick update. The CD is now available for download at ITunes. So if anyone didn't have a CDBaby account and didn't want to create one, you can now find it at itunes. It will be at Amazon.com soon. OK, end of plugging the album. Thanks all for checking it out.
On the tune "it's so Easy", I certainly did use a certain old tenor Gretsch banjo. I think I sent you a rough mix of that song shortly after I'd recorded it. On Polka Dots, I used my Majestic tenor.
