A friend wants mp3's of quite a number of my songs and I will not see her anytime soon, so, it has to be via download. Is there a way I can compile the mp3's into a zip file or something like that, such that she can download the entire group? (Via her Ipad or her Droid phone.) Else, she would have to get the songs one at a time. How do I do this, what program do I need?

Bill,

I don't believe you'll gain much in the way of file compression by zipping the MP3s, which are already fairly compressed. And, I'm not sure if you can unzip a compressed folder with the Droid. Might be better to just place them all in a folder and send the entire folder to her.

Good Luck,

my suggestions:

The advantage of zipping the MP3 in a folder (directory) is that the user only need to download one file.

1- create a folder (directory)...example "mymp3"
2- copy the mp3 files to the folder "mymp3"
3- zip the folder. Usually a extension .zip will be added to folder, like "mymp3.zip" or "mymp3.gzip" or "mymp3.rar" (depend in what utility you use to ZIP or compress the MP3 folder).
4- Post "mymp3.zip" file in place where it can be downloaded.

Done

I can't give you more details, because I don't know what OS are you using, but the later steps are good for any.

Machetero,

She is using a DROID, therefore, I do not think she does not has the ability to unzip a compressed, MS file.

I am using Windows7, she would download via her Ipad or her Droid phone. It's been ages since I zipped something, what utility does that? I recall Winzip, hopefully I can get a free version of something.

Bill,

You could zip the file easily enough, but she probably has no way of unzipping the file using Droid. Also, I just compressed an MP3 of Country Roads that was 5.48 megs. After zipping the file it was 5.46 megs. Like I said earlier, no reason to compressed a compressed file

She will be able to download the MP3s to the iPAD and use iTunes to listen to them.
In my MacPro or MacMini I can play any MIDI or MP3 file just using the icon view. No need even to open iTunes.

Okay Gary, I didn't know it worked that way. As for her options, I mentioned that she also has Ipad. That's two devices, Droid phone and Ipad.

Like Machetero said, why not just put them in a folder as is, and use a file sharing site, send her the link and let her download the file, but without zipping ?
