Wow! I wonder if you can somehow stores your own docs on their cloud... and read them. (Think... lyrics!)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=pe_70020_21685840_pe_b3/?ASIN=B0051VVOB2

Wow, I might get one of these for mobile browsing and email, anyway.

Yep, I'm buying! "Kindle makes it easy to take your documents with you. You can e-mail documents - including Word, PDF and more - directly to your Kindle so you that you can read them anytime, anywhere."

Now, the only issue for me using it as a lyric display is if I can use a footswitch to turn pages.

Might want to wait to see head to head comparison with the Nook Color 2. Both being released soon and about the same time.

SemiLive,
1- I love the name SemiLiveMusic ... can I use it?
b- Did you get the Kindle Fire? If so how it working out? I like the idea of displaying lyrics in Word and being able to insert a lick (dots) here and there in Word.
3- If you are using it, how do you save files so that they are easily accessible?
Ciao,
Jerry

Jerry, surely you don't want to take a chance of being confused with Wild Bill!

I didn't buy Kindle. Still debating whether to go with iPad, due to its versatile app resources. As for using the name, you mean for your act? Sure.

I read about 200 Kindle Fire reviews and it may not do the job. Among other things, It doesn't have file management, so I don't know how one would call up a lyric file quickly. I guess I'm looking for a 7" version of the Music Pad Pro that displays Word and PDF files.
I think I'd rather use "Don Mason" or "Gary Diamond" for my act ... might get more work. Gigs are drying up here in the 'rust belt'.
Ciao,
Jerry

Check out the Blackberry Playbook 7-Inch Tablet which has many features not found in the Nook or the Kindle Fire. Once priced at $599 now at $249 (Amazon)

I'm not sure if a 7" screen would be large enough to read lyrics and sheet music. Also many non Apple type tablets use Android or Java apps, and I don't believe they offer the type of music reading ability that the iPad has access to.

It has been slow here too. I'm fortunate to be able to go back to my "old" gig at the supper club. Crow tastes good with the proper seasoning!

Actually I have a pretty good number of Christmas parties booked, and they all pay good. I vote we lobby for more Decembers in the year.

I use an iPad, it's screen is just big enough (I wouldn't mind a 12" screen though!) The app that I use, which is made for musicians, is called unrealBook. I have almost 1000 songs now in PDF form for my iPad. It did take me a LOT of hours though, scanning, editing and "cleaning up" some songs, and cropping them tightly so that they fill the screen. I literally don't bring music books or fake books to jams or gigs anymore - just the iPad.

I exiled myself from the "band" gig the last 2 months....We have holiday parties this coming month and then NYE...Not sure what my "band" future will be....I did need a major break from the travel...and that I got..

BTW: the 60's and 70's were living large...I don't remember if we had a president then...oh yeah I remember the old peanut grower and the guy before him...what's his name..kept falling off the plane...
