AJ,

Does this mean the Audya is officially announced?

Is Ketron finally announcing an availability and price yet?

Thanks

That's the same "news" as we see here in Norway, but considering the time since
the Audia hype started, it's still nearly 7 months till October 2008 and all
that sudden you'll se the year 2009 at your calendar.....
Regarding price, well, guess it will beat SD1 and turn to be the most expensive
Ketron arranger keyboard you've seen so far, or may I call it a KaraokeMachine?

NEWS FLASH! This just in, hot off the wire. I just received word from Musician's Buy that the Ketron Audya will not be available until January 2009. Also, still no price. Good things will come to those that WAIT!

Hi.

Today I could see at a local dealers website that Ketron Audya was put
on the webshop for order and expected delivery around Sept/Oct 2008.
So the (big?) surprise,...., nah not really, but it will be a real high
cost arranger.

Norwegian Kroner: 55000,- (SD1+, Tyros2 and the new Korg are priced
between N.Kr. 25000,- - 30.000,- these days)

That's approximately 10400 $ , or 7150 € , or 4960£ !!

Guess that will keep tha sales low if the difference to the other top
of the line arrange keyboards will be that much, or?

Happy Playing
GJ

A link to the shop, in Norwegian, but anyway.... http://www.gjovikmusikk.no/shop/cat/023863.aspx

Thanks GJ,

Pricing it at that level is like killing it before it's even released.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there will be many people on this forum that will purchase a $10,000.00 arranger keyboard that will not guarantee them $20,000 in additional Gigs.

Especially when you factor in that the base styles using those real voices will be limited in number (IMHO) and you will need to purchase either more voices or styles and or both.

If they price it along with the Pa2xpro and the T2/T3 then they would give Korg and Yamaha stiff competition, but at this price point they put themselves right out of the market.

Very puzzling, indeed.

Well! UK SZ members are now finding out what the Audya can really do in comparison with the rest. (Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Wersi, Bohm, Orla, Hammond etc)
It will be interesting to hear their observations when they get back. (The Keyboard Festival ends next Monday 28th)

Bill

I am just wondering, will this be a good master keyboard ?

How flexible will the midi part be? How well could it controll my vst's when on stage? can i assign midiprogram and bank changes in my performances?

Well, looking to how quiet things are regarding the new Audya, who knows what to come?
There most be something Ketron have difficulties to solve since it's been that long time
between the hype started and when it's really going to reach the dealers.....
Also there is very little "in deepth" info about it, even at the Frankfurth show, where
it's the same things played and said as done earlier.

If Yamaha and Roland introduce new top arranger keyboard models at the same time Ketron
does, my guess is that more people than me will take the time needed to compare and
explore before take action to buy Audya, because it will be a "wider market" to choose
from.
Anyway, the furure are exciting, and I'm sure Audya will be a real huge step forward in
technology compared to SD!
I only hope they don't leave out the things who really works well on SD1, and that the
SD styles will load and play well on the new "flagship".

Happy Playing

Someone working at my local dealer was at the musikmesse as an Accorden demonstrator...

He got a quick hands on with the audya, and he thinks its awesome. But then his current favorite is the Ketron SD5..

But the video demo's don;'t justify this keyboards sounds at all.....its way beyound everything else.

The only feedback I have been able to get back from the Pakefield Keyboard festival so far, (Where it could be directly compared with other boards) was that it had some nice sounds, but overall didn’t seem anything special.

But you are spoiled with your wersi ears....

Uptill now can't compare an ordinary keyboard with the sound of Wersi and vst's.... but i expected it to be a step ahead of T2 sounds...

Until I hear and play the Audya live, I cannot make a personal judgment, the feedback is from others who attended the Festival, I did not, and I an also not attending this weeks Blackpool festival.

Just wondering how previous workstations like the SD1 where in controlling and setting up midi other instruments and/or vst's over midi.

Bachus,

What were some of the Master Keyboard features you wanted to know?

Progress is being made on this keyboard and it won't be too long now before it hits the market. Some slight modifications to procesor (now going with an Intel DUO CORE processor, more memory, even more features ...etc), and the Sound wave table updated even more; so please just be patient and see what comes out of the labs at Ketron.

Its hard to describe AJ... but i'd love to see my midi fully integrated in the machine..

Import .ins files intoo the Audya and choose those midi instruments by name.

If you would want to make many people like me really happy you'd make it possible to directly choose vst instruments running on a remote PC... More like the idea how a PC controlls the vst's on the muse receptor. But then with a more basic interface on the audya.
(This will probably be wishfull thinking for the next few years, but it would truely be the next step in Arranger keyboards)

WHat i basically want is to save most of my midi setup in my song or style performance.

Next to that it should be possible to send midi controll data comming from the sliders of the Audya...so freely programming a slider to send midi controll data like delay when playing Style A, while programming it to send cut-off or another midi parameter in Style B.

Next to i'd love to see the possibillity to use the Midi in to alter my onboard sounds in real time with the incomming Midi CC changes.

I hope these writings are understandable to you as English is not my native language...

Hi Bachus,
if it's anything like the sd1+, it won't make for a good master keyboard.
( check with Miden as well, I think he also tried to use his as a master)

Download an SD1+ manual, then an Audya manual when availble & do a comparison.

That's what I hope to do .

bet wishes

Thats bad news Rikki......

Espescially since the Audya is based on plain PC hardware, it would be a bad design decission not to put in as much as midi master possibilities as possible..

I think Korg PA series is showing which way to go with midi capabilities...

If the Audya wants to become the leading arranger station it has to be versatile as possible...with a main interface easy for the normall user, and versatallity in the lower menu structures to sattisfy the pros.

An modern arranger workstation could be so much more then just an arranger...

It was at Pakefield from what I can gather, but little has been said about it anywhere, so my guess is that it’s a total flop. (Unless someone knows different)

I sold Solton/Ketron in Ireland from 90.s up to 2002. They gave me a lot of small problems. Musicians means of transport etc had them coming back to me. I brought a brand new SD1 to Lanzarote with me 2002. It has given me disc problems there also and it is rarely moved and then omly by myself. I think the problem for Ketron is Stability from crashing etc. Why would they hold back over 1 year otherwise. They cant Stabalize it. Good Luck.Collie.

I don't profess to know exactly how the Audya is to work... but one thing I can tell ya... they better have a dedicated processor for audio plyback (styles etc) and it better be a HORSE with lots of memory.

That's based on my experience with software arangers and softsynth's.

I don't think they currently have a sepperate processor for that..... Thats prolly where all the delays come from. It just takes time to create something like that.

Yepper... well. Maybe a duo or quad core cpu with LOTS of memory would also be enough.

IF they skimp on this they will have ongoing problems to try to program their way out of.

I own a high end piece of HAM Radio equipment that is software defined. They mis-judged (or went cheap?) on the cpu and memory and have been trying to program their way out of it since... They have to steel cycles from one thing... then it screws up something else. so on & so on.

I don't know of ANY programs for quad-core chips. I'm not sure I know of any for dual-core chips either, come to think of it.
Right now, money spent of quads would probably be wasted, not only on Audya, but on PCs as well.

Hi DonM
There are very few programs these days that don’t use Dual core CPU. (Particularly Music, Photo and Video programs)
The road map for multicore processors was laid out a couple of years ago, (8 cores should be out next year, with possibly 16 core towards the end or early 2010) and so manufactures adapted their software at the same time as they moved over to Dual core. (Dual and Quad core are also starting to be used on High end Graphics cards)
In addition single core CPU is a fast dying breed.
Regards

Bill

Pretty sure the earliest release date for Audya is mid Sept. 2008
Has anybody had time to play one on their own time at any of the shows. (not demo)
What do you think
