I have not submitted music here for several years. So, today I recorded a set live from today's NYE gig. I used my Zoom H2. I am impressed with the quality the little Zoom captures.

Sounds really good, Dean...I certainly appreciate what goes into making great instrumental music, especially since you really play... solidly performed melodies, proper LH chords, and appropriate, and well chosen, styles.

Happy 2012. party

Rikki,
I was using my Tyros 4 connected directly to my Zoom H2 recorder. With a 4 Gig SD card in the recorder it will record nearly 8 hours of stereo input. It is a nice toy. By the way, I used the Tyros 4 headphone output to record from.

Good Job, Deane. I was pretty sure the H2 would do what you wished.

Cheers,

Great job Deane!! Your Beer Barrel Polka sounded a lot like James Last and I love his stuff. BTW, you can also use the output on the back of the Bose Compact to record from. I get great results from that output. Happy New Year guys!

Thanks guys for the comments. It is interesting listening to your work from a different perspective. I have identified some things I will probably change and hopefully use this tool to improve the sound I get for each song. I usually spend hours matching styles to songs and sometimes don't always hit a home run. Also, some of the styles could be tweaked to adjust the balance a bit better which I have never done in the past - we'll see.

Tony,
The only gigs I play now are for senior retirement communities. Most are only an hour in length but some are 2 hours. I enjoy the people and how much they like the music. They always tell me I play "their kind of music".

Deane......I just found this "laying around." I forgot to post it.

I really enjoy and admire your choice of songs:

http://www.4shared.com/folder/kLXsF_91/Deanes_2011_NYE_Gig.html

When I saw "After the Ball (Showboat)" listed, I knew the best was yet to come.

I play just about every one of those myself, not by chance but by choice. Just about every one is a winner...."When You Wish" "A Dream is a Wish" (the seldom heard) "12th St Rag"...the biggie: "All The Things You Are."

And ......I like that you play them in a way that can be appreciated. Simple, straight-forward and melodic. Those are songs that have to be played note for note to really enjoy them.

When you get a chance, do a Google and read the history of the song After the Ball. And the story behind the lyrics. It has a very interesting background. And it's a great song to boot! It really makes you feel like...."waltzing."

Mark
