Ketron USA... when can we expect the SD4's to hit USA?

Also, Are the sounds EXACTLY SD2 or more/better?

Around Mid July. Better than the SD2!

Thanks AJ,

So, not just an SD2 with buttons?

AJ, (or anyone)

OK, I just reviewed the documentation on the SD2. It looks like you do not support standard bank/program change for selecting sounds from a MIDI controller (keyboard)???

Looks like with program change you can only select the 128 GM presets? Then you have to use CC then program change? I am talking about the other banks of sounds.

Is this true or am I reading it wrong?

If I am to buy a SD2 or SD4 preferably it will need to supports STANDARD BANK/PROGRAM changes sequesnces from MIDI for all sound selections.

Hi Lee,

My Ketron SD2 supports standard MSB bank change commands for the upper banks.

If you can send MSB 0 (for GM, which is also the default at turn on), MSB 1, MSB2, and MSB10 from your controller, then you can access all the sounds in the box.

MSB 2 is the "Presets Bank" category, where melodic instrument sounds are grouped together. I find this to be the bank of choice for me when playing out live, fast access to Pianos, Rhodes Pianos, Organ Patches, etc. this way. No sound effects or helicopters in that bank, just good musical sounds.

The Ketron SD2 has put ALL of my other MIDI synth solutions, both hardware and software, on the shelf here. No kidding. Even Gigasampler.

To further clarify, all you need send is MSB of 2, then the Patch Number from 1 to 128.

If your controller doesn't call it MSB (BTW you just ignore LSB on the SD2, it only needs the MSB to select banks) then try a Controller 0 and set it for a value of 2 for the Preset Bank, 2 for Voice Bank B or 10 for Voice bank C.

HTH,

Mac,
Thanks so much for the help.. according to the very poor SD2 manual it looked like you needed to do special things (CC's)to get to all the other banks except the presets bank.

Yes, I can send any MSB, LSB bank/program changes.

Mac, so the sounds are that GOOD????

From what you know.. do you think I should just wait a month or so for the SD4?
Suppose to be in USA in July. Maybe.

That is a question that only you can answer, Lee.

I assume the SD4 will be at a higher pricepoint.

According to all reports I've heard, the SD4 sounds are even BETTER than the SD2!
