Hi Gary. I concur with you about that. Simple physics: The shorter the key, the less velocity=vol control you'll have along the key's travel path. That said, with a degree of playing technique adaptation, you can perhaps compensate for that. I've got no illusion of getting my microArranger's keys to response like they do on my Tyros 4, but in turn, the Tyros 4's keys don't respond the same way as the fully weighted hammer action keys on my Steinway either. They're each different animals and I intend to play on their 'unique strengths' and different application-venue purposes. - Scott
