I have decided to keep it. The reason I didn't buy it from Frank is so I could have 45 days to try it out and return it if I didn't like it. That, and he didn't have any 61s in stock at the time and I needed to buy it in 2011 for tax purposes.
So far it is working out. If I change my mind, or something better comes along, I can sell it. I've had two offers from local people to buy it after they heard it. And that doesn't include Semilive. I have to dry the drool off it every time he plays it! My friend Dickie T offered to trade his Tyros 4 for it, but I talked him out of it. He is a Yammy guy and it wouldn't have made him happy in the long run. Plus if I had wanted a T4 I would have bought one.
It is actually working out very well for me for the following reasons:
Great physical layout; all controls are easy to reach, and everything that should have a button has one, plus many assignable switches, sliders, buttons, pedals.
Completely editable including ability to overwrite literally everything, including factory styles.
Solid state hard drive seems to have plenty of room, but can be expanded if necessary. Plus good USB interaction.
Great Songbook feature.
Great vocal processing and harmony.
Great styles with interesting variations and nice bass lines.
Nice display.
Multipads.
Joy stick.
Nice key feel.
Fairly light weight and easy to handle. Fits in several of the bags I already had. Fits on my 61-key keyboard stands. (Tyros and Ketron do not fit on some of them and also need larger bags.
Variety of inputs and outputs.
Chord sequencer!
Sounds good. Drums are right behind Ketron and on a par with Roland.
Great pianos, EPs, organs, strings. Some good guitars, especially acoustic. Some good saxes and horns. Nice Vibes.
Features that would probably be more important to others than they are to me include things such as dual midi/MP3 player, sequencer, style creator etc.
Very good support from Korg. You can call or email them and they will answer your questions.
Local guy does Korg repair if it is ever needed.
Yes, there certainly are aspects in which other brands have it beat. I haven't come up with a great Growl Sax, one of my favorite sounds on Yamaha, Ketron and Roland. I'm sure there are some I can add if I look though. I'm having to edit a few short endings to my liking. (most are good).
There is only one mic input. Wish it had two like Ketron.
Overall, the pluses outweigh the minuses by far, for my applications.
It took a lot to get the BK7m out of my arsenal but it looks like a good move so far.
