Morning Gents

Check in the Korg Forum download section PA50/60/80 for a program called Yamaha to PA80 conversions. This works very simply and converts Yamaha styles to work in the Micro very easily. The PSR tutorial site has thousands of Yamaha styles for downloading.

You can have the best of both worlds

PS Once converted the PA80 styles are compatable with all later Korg boards as well as the Pa50/60/80 and the KMA

I just need a program to audition the Yamaha styles before convertion!

Regards

Col

Did you check among the utilities on the same site, Col?

http://psrtutorial.com/util/index.html

I thought one of Michael Bedesem's programs will let you do what you want.

You are right, there's all kinds of styles on PSR-Tutorial, even those from the CVP-series.

Good luck!

Ian

You really don't need a program to audition Yamaha styles. You can just change the extension from .sty to .mid and they will play in any audio player, such as Windows Media Player.

Unfortunately, you will not have Yamaha's sound engine while previewing the styles in this manner--just the GM sounds in the PC. The styles always sound best when played through the original keyboard.

Good Luck,

Gary cool

Gary, you are right of course. On my previous PC I had a Yamaha sound card and it worked great. Since I no longer have a Yamaha keyboard, I haven't tried it since changing PCs.

Hi Col,
does this software read ALL yamaha style formats??

Be fascinated to see if it does a better job than EMC.

Unfortunately doesn't have all the style parts my PA3X has , so I'll keep doing it my own way, but what a find for Micro Arranger owners.

Do you have an actual link, embarressingly I can't find the software. haa haa

Hi Rikki

I downloaded some random styles from the PST tutorial site and they worked fine. Scott sent me a couple of T4 styles to try but these were not sucessful. It would appear its a matter of
trial and error.

The Korg Forum link:

http://www.korgforums.com/?show=1

You can audition the results using the Style to midi software from the same site.

PA50/60/80 section

PS: I've been using the demo version of One Man Band to play the Yamaha styles.

Regards

Col

Hi Rikki, Here's what the YamahaToPA80 ReadMe documentaion states:
"I tested this utility only with PSR740 and PSR9000 styles, but it should work for any Yamaha style.
If any Yamaha style do not convert well please send me only the Yamaha style and explain what exactly sound wrong on your PA so i can fix the program."

Considering YamahaToPA80 was written back in 2002 (with no known updates since then), I suspect the conversion results may be unsuccessful (as Col. Saswick confirmed with the T4 styles I sent him) or meet with very limited success at best when converting earlier Tyros format styles. The current version of EMC StyleWorks XT on the other hand, specifically states it supports T1 thru T4 format styles. Ricky, realizing you have the latest version of EMC Styleworks XT, it would be interesting to hear from you on how this free software does at converting earlier T1,T2,T3 styles compared to EMC StyleWorks XT. Here's the YamahaToPa80 software download link. Scott cool

Hi Scott,
I'll let you know how I go.

The PSr740/PSR 9000 styles were so simple compared to the later styles, let alone once the T megavoices were introduced. I actually think I still have some from my old 9000pro
