I feel we all ought to give thanks to Korg for giving us something to talk about.

It would be very boring without the KMA to praise, crab etc

I agree 100%.

It definitely livened things up considerably.

Col, Your view of the KMA is refreshing, the activity in SynthZone has increased – Nice.

There is another view and that is the excitement that a new keyboard brings to an individuals who purchased one; or going to purchased one.

In the past I had to pay $1,600 to $3,300 for the excitement that a new keyboard brings; I just paid under $400 for a new keyboard which will bring much of the same excitement; it’s a new toy PLUS.

While the KMA is great vallue for its money, its still repackaged 10 year old technollogie. I dont get the fuzz about it, it sure is great vallue for the buck, but my fingers dont really fit them keys.

What makes me curious, Bachus, is that the PA-50SD (which the microArranger is based on) didn't hardly cause a blip on the radar, even when new, and has never been discussed to this extent on SZ.

I think it's simply a cheap thrill...and a small one at that.

They should have released this as an Ipad app... would have worked just as well with any Master keyboard or midisetup...

It only shows how far the Arranger market moved forward over the last 10 years.

It is the novelty, of the size and the real functionality of the Micro..based on Korg's most popular model ..PA-80.....Sure the PA50sd is identical and more playable...but then you have a dozen more models to consider, in the same range....(boring)...

Maybe if Yamaha released a Tyros3 in a Micro size and priced at $500...I would buy one and kept it more than the 3 days I had the Tyros3...Talk about wanting to dump a instrument... smile

Yes, it is a novelty, Fran, and as you said in other posts, the sound is just"okay".

If it works for your purposes, then you have spent your money well.

Personally, I've got all that I'll ever need in the Tyros4, and have no need of novelties at the moment.

Seriously Fran, I really doubt if Roland would release a G-70 in micro size and price it at $500, any more than Yamaha would do the same with a Tyros3.

It was very amusing, however, to watch you (and perhaps Donny) do the turnabout and pull the "successful" KMA from ebay.

And yes, we can all find purposes for seemingly useless things...even a Mediastation could still be used as a paperweight.

Ian

PS...An instrument that is "more playable" works better for me...your mileage may vary.

I am remembering what Nigel told Tony. If you aren't interested in the KMA, and don't have one, and don't intend to get one, because you don't like the key size or for whatever reason, WHY keep putting it down, since it doesn't concern you?
Could it possibly be to promote the brand that you own?
Maybe it's just a long cold winter and there's nothing else to do?
There are MANY features on current Yamahas that employ technology well over ten years old; for just one, the awful vocal harmonizer.

I'm not "putting it down" Don...I'm merely discussing it's good and bad points just like the rest here. My posts are always within forum guidelines, and if they don't interest you, just skip over.

I have no need to promote Yamaha, and do it no more than you promote the instruments that you use. I love the Tyros4, not because it's a Yamaha, but because it's an awesome arranger...the best, for my needs. I make no apologies for stating what I use and why. Neither should you.

Cold winter, yes, but lots of things to do indoors...remember them?

Visiting SZ discussions is also a nice pastime, and often very amusing.

Seeing my name used so freely I take the liberty to butt in !!!

John C (Bruno) is referring to the 2012 Resources for the PA800 which have been received very well by all those who are using them.

I am confident the folks that order my Micro Resources will feel equally pleased with all that is included, as is Bernie, and look forward to their comments , reactions and criticism in the weeks ahead.
I am sorting out the (minor) compatibility problems as regards loading/saving file over the weekend with a friend of mine who unexpectedly received his copy of the Micro this afternoon.
But all should be sorted by February 1st.

have a nice weekend,
John Smies

Now who said I was talking about YOU, Ian? smile smile
I'm just here to learn! And occasionally agitate. . .
I'm actually thinking about getting one of those little mini Korgs. If it ran on batteries I would for sure. I would like to be able to carry it into the main dining room where I work and play Happy Birthday at some of the tables. Sometimes I do that with a guitar. My "real" gear is all set up in the Club Room. Problem is I have to hide the guitar or everyone who ever knew a chord wants to take it and sit in.
I caught a disease in Calgary one time, but I don't hold it against you. smile
Speaking of cold winter, I played golf today and had to take off my sweater. Temp reached mid 60's. I really wish I could play in the snow at least once a year though.

Don,

It had to be me...I just put together Yamaha, and long cold winter...voila!

When you play in the snow you'll need orange balls.

Ian

PS...its'a balmy 27 F here now (16 F with wind chill)...I'm going to finally have to break out the winter clothes pretty soon.

Wow that’s my error -- sorry. I typed $400 instead of $499. I’m surprised that I only received one private email on this one. Sorry again.
