What a great natural sounding instrument....

JUPITER 80 DEMOS

It sounds very Impressive in person the draw back it is basicly in the same case that the G70 is in and it's weight is around 45lbs wide and will be something hard to travel all the time if it wasent so big I would have one .

Why in heavens name while in R&D they don't discuss the difficulties of WEIGHT & SIZE unless they assume it will be a studio piece not a gigging everyday unit... with today's technology no unit has to be so heavy anymore..go figure...

But for people that don't care for weight...

Put this on top of a Kronos 88, add an Audya 4, and you got it all in one setup. Its got the natural sounds that are somewhat missing on the K. While styles still dont come better then in the Audya..

The Jupiter 80 outparses the SA2 instruments of YAmaha by some miles... Its just that great.



Either that or you build your own software based system.

I have been toying with a Jupiter 80 all afternoon in a Musicshop. It really sounds astonnishing, but the part that really got to me is how intuitive the whole Roland interface works.

The most important things are under direct controll and you can just play away. Noboddy makes interfaces like Roland, a perfect blend between direct controll and the most beautifull touch interface one could imagine..




This video shows how a typical Synth player looks at such an instrument, which is quite different from the average Arranger player. He looks at the potential of creativity...

I hope the Jupiter sound technology trickles down to be incorporated into Roland NEW TOTL Arranger? It looks Sooooooo bog & heavy? BTW Nice studio this guy has !!

The technollogy comes from the V-synth and is also in the topline AT organs.

TOTL Roland, if they add the style engine of the G70, SONAR and VST hosting, improve the Fantom and add the other V-synth engines and some of their retro synth engines (as we have seen KORG do) in software. Combined with the super intuitive interface we're used from Roland. The masterkeybopard functionallity of the A90.

And then add small tiny keys to keep the price under 1000 dollar...

The Jupiter 80 is awesome...the Kronos is awesome.

But then the JP80 has what KRONOS is missing... Accoustic instrument emulations...

If you already have a Tyros4, like Tony, for instance, with the addition of Kronos, you have the best of both worlds.

I was actually hoping the Jupiter 80 would be a super digital version of the Jupiter 8, with enhancements of course, but it isn't...sounds great, but, for my money, I'd go for the Kronos.

I have to agree, if you like the sound of your Tyros 4 (with its SA2 acoustuc voices), the KRONOS will be its ideal companion. Just have a look at those petry giles videos on the Youtube
