I just installed the VST Hypersonic 2 on my computer who is GM compliant.

I loaded on the vArranger software, the Tyros 3 Bebop style, who sounds amazing to my ears

I added the chords with the SONG CHORDS feature

HERE is the MP3 recording of the result, direct out from the VST host, with NO tweaking at all.

It's amazing that we can create a quality backing track in less than 5 minutes !!

Dan WOW what a transformation.....
it sounds amazing thru the Varranger.... how is the cross talk & setup between a really good controller & the VArranger as far as navigation in REAL TIME PLAY compared to using a stand alone arranger KB?....that is my only concern as the sound is quality for sure.

Hi DNJ,

Every buttons and slider of vArranger can be controlled by a wireless PC KEYboard, or by a MIDI KEY, MIDI slider/knob, MIDI pedals... or even a PC wireless Joystick.

I still prefer to gig with a stand alone arranger KB, because my playing is changing sounds and variations 10 times a minute,
but when I gig with vArranger, I feel comfortable after some minutes of playing.

What I really prefer on vArranger, is that :

we can EDIT every thing on a big screen, and save a full registration in a click of a button.
You can create new layered sounds very easily.
In live situation, you then just recall everything by loading your style : The Right hand sound/ LH sound + style mixer + your 10 favorites sounds going well with the style + Displaying JPG score + some chords riff associated to that song that you can ON/OFF at any time.

The layout of the software is better than any hardware arranger
that I tried.

I am usually using a touch screen PC on gigs, so I can change styles directly with my finger on the screen.

The songs management is very easy

There is a nice SEARCH feature. Very cool when you need to find a song or a style in a second.

The SONG CHORDS feature is also amazing to create backing tracks very easily, or if you want to sometimes SOLO with Full Keyboard, while vArranger is changing the chords for you. Here a screenshot
http://www.varranger.fr/vforum/index.php?topic=218.0

The MIDIFILE + KARAOKE + MP3 player, is cool too.

vArranger is still NOT perfect, and will not replace Hardware arrangers, but you can GIG with it, enjoy playing music with it, and do some cool things that you can't do with hardware arrangers.

Dan all this looks very interesting and certainly a viable choice as variation to using a stand alone arranger. I am looking at all avenues and alternatives to what i am now using.
Of course i have concerns and different needs then other people and many questions about setting up a rig as shown in your website pictures also. When I get a chance I'll email you with some of my questions to get an idea of what is entailed in using the Varranger software for gigging.

Thank you

Here is a picture of how I used vArranger on my latest gig.

I just start to gig with my new PSR-A2000.

This Gig was not a one man band. I played with full band (bass, drums, trumpet, sax...), so no need of the arranger section.

Yamaha sounds are very cool, but some sections are really bad. Like BRASS... So I took a small 49 key keyboard + my Ketron SD4, to have the Ketron sounds on top of the Yamaha sounds.

I was surprised on how the mix Yamaha + Ketron sounds was good, and how I felt comfortable with 2 keyboards

Great looking rig Dan.......but why didn't you just use the Ketron + Varranger, controller sounds without the Yamaha at all.....? btw Dan are you on SKYPE?

I did many gigs with vArranger + Ketron SD2 only, but on this gig, I had to use some oriental sounds that are not in the SD2

Hypersonic 2 certainly is a good soundsource, i have been using it for quite some time now, but it doesn't work this great for all Yamaha styles, some sound just perfect others need a lot of tweaking..

Nice detail, Hypersonic is made by Steinberg, which is owned by ...... Yamaha.

It would not surprise me is some of hypersonic samples where also used in Yamaha instruments.
